Appearance:
Mora is an average sized girl, standing at five foot zero inches and weighing only one hundred pounds. This means she’s also quite thin, but of a healthy weight. While she’s thin, she’s also slightly muscular from fishing with her father. Though she spends so much time in sun, she’s just barely tan. Her skin has a slight bronze hue, but compared to most, she’s still fair skinned. Her hair hangs down just past her shoulders, and light brown, dark blonde in color. It’s slightly wavy, and sometimes a bit frizzy. Her eyes are a bright blue. Her face is round, still with the typical childlike innocence that came with her childhood.Personality:
Because she spends so much time outside with her dad, most of her clothing is at least slightly tattered, and faded. Though she dresses nicely to go to school, or do other things when she isn't fishing. She prefers to wear her combat boots, or simply go barefoot. She has a few scars, a large one on top of her foot from dropping a trident on it. She also has quite a few small ones on her hands from fish hooks and other small accidents. Most of the time, Mora wears her hair in a ponytail to keep it out of her face.
Mora is a quiet child until she gets to know someone. She doesn’t easily trust and though she looks innocent, she does her best to keep people at a distance. She’s wary of making friends even though she really wants them. Most of this is out of fear from watching the games. She puts up a harsh front, though she’s really quite sweet and friendly. Mora is a tomboy, and would much rather play outside, fish or swim than do things she finds girly. Such as play with dolls or anything of the sort. She can be a bit aggressive if things don’t go the way she wants to, and she tends to be a bit selfish that way. Though she’s quiet, she’s quietly assertive, and will push her thoughts and talk over people if she feels she needs too.History:
She’s a brave girl, though she has a strong fear of the games, and of being reaped. She’s still immature in the way that she tends to have nightmares about it, especially now that she’s been through her first reaping. Now that she’s beginning to fully understand that it could be her next, and that her name can come out of the ball at any time, she gets moody really easily. She can be seen as very much a typical preteen when it comes to mood swings, though those who know her know that they have nearly everything to do with fear.
Mostly, she tries to stay positive though, and avoid thinking about the games as best as she can. Though she keeps it quiet and to herself, something her father has taught her, Mora hates the Capital. However, she does love learning, at least, everything but math. Though she loves learning, she’s not the best with words, or getting her thoughts a crossed. She loves fishing, and is quite good with knots, nets and using a trident.
Mora is the only child of Coral and Casper Hayes. Born in the fishing district, both of her parents taught her to fish from a young age, though her mother died in a fishing accident when she was only four. This isn’t something Mora remembers, and it definitely isn’t something her father talks about. Because of this, she grew up a daddy’s girl, quickly becoming quite a tomboy because of his male influence. It also meant that he tried to always keep her in his sights. The pair is extremely close, and even when she was just four years old, Casper had Mora out with him fishing. When she was five, she was trying her hand at fishing with a trident. It was too big, and she dropped it, and now forever has a long scar on her foot from where it landed.Codeword: Odair
By the time she was seven, with her father’s help, Mora became proficient with a trident, different lures, knots and nets. It was at this age that Mora first heard him mention her mother since the accident. Though it was a simple, passing comment, it has stuck with her. He had told her that she reminded him quite a lot of Coral and this is something Mora is extremely proud of. It was this same day that he gave her a small, silver ring with a fish on it, which Mora never takes off.
At the age of ten, though she already knew how to use a fishing knife, her father began to push her harder to get better at using it. Though he never told her, she knew this had something to do with the games. Her favorite quickly became knife she was named for, the mora fillet knife. Now at twelve, Mora has been through her first reaping, leaving her with nightmares of her name being called, and a healthy need to prove herself, just in case it actually does.
