[/blockquote]Personality:If Xavier had to describe himself in one word, it would be: average. Everything about him could be deemed average. He doesn't have any features that set him apart from everyone else. He can't call himself attractive or ugly in looks, just average. There is nothing special about his appearance to set him apart from anyone else in his district. That is why he tries so hard to dress differently. Xavier doesn't just want to be average.
A mop of messy brown hair sits atop his average sized head. His mother once told him he had an oval-shaped face. Xavier didn't see how that information would be important for him to know, but his mother insisted that he would need to know that if he ever planned on getting a nice haircut. As if he would ever be able to afford having someone actually cut his hair. His hair lacks luster and is often dry because he doesn't wash his hair as frequently as he should. Showers don't really seem that important to him because there are a lot of other things that he would rather be doing. His hair is always messy because he doesn't bother to brush it. It has been a few months since he took a knife to his hair to cut it and because of that he now has to continuously push it out of his eyes. It is now so long that it hangs level with the end of his nose.
Ever since District 5 modified it's district production people have been working indoors more than outside. The amount of factories that was built in the last 20 years caused an enormous amount of pollution within the gates of the district. The smog rarely ever lets sun in. Xavier always likes to point out that you could never tell what time of day it is by looking at the sky. He likes to tell everyone that he is so white because of the lack of sunshine in the district. His skin could almost be translucent in the right light. But almost everyone in the district has the fair-skinned gene. Whether it is due to the lack of sun or not is just a guess. Xavier's skin is bare of freckles and he has outgrown the awkward stage in which acne could be found all over his skin. The only colour difference he has against his skin is the oil that he is so frequently covered in. There isn't much you can do to prevent your hands from still having remaining traces of oil found all over them when you work in an oil refinery and power plant.
Xavier has a slight obsession with people who have green eyes. He thinks that they are gorgeous, and very not-average. Which is the exact opposite of his dull, average brown eyes that are framed by think, long eyelashes. Sometimes he tries to claim that they are hazel, but there is no trace of green anywhere throughout his eyes. He has thick, untamed black eyebrows. They oddly fit his face type but they make his almond shaped eyes look slightly smaller than they are.
Often enough Xavier wishes he was as intimidating as some of the kids he sees on television, but that is just not the case. Despite having such a small body frame, he also lacks the roughness needed in his face. He matured faster than a lot of boys his age, but he never lost the softness. His cheeks still have a trace of baby fat. Since District 5 changed it's production, they became significantly wealthier, which meant more to eat. Xavier had only ever seen a few people starving, and he was shocked by the difference of his features and theirs. Not that you would notice because of his hair, but his forehead is slightly larger than average (not the unaverage trait he was hoping to inherit). There is a small cut next to his left eye from an altercation with a peacekeeper when he was twelve. Xavier got braces at a younger age because of his parents' wealth (which is no longer) and so his teeth are straight. But he never was one to brush his teeth when he was supposed to so they have a yellow tint. His light pink lips often have scabs from where he bites them so hard that they bleed.
Of course Xavier is average height. He stands at about five feet and eleven inches. It isn't much of an accomplishment because there are so many guys that are taller than him, but what can he do? Xavier has a rather slender body frame. Everything about him screams 'tiny'. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but that's how he sees himself. He is lacking in the muscles that he sees some people with. Xavier often jokes that he would never make it in the Hunger Games with his size. He is often described as being lanky, but there is enough meat on him that his bones are not visible. Average size feet support his thin frame. Once he reached a size 11, his feet decided to stop growing. Xavier always wears shoes and socks because he doesn't like walking around barefoot. If it wasn't considered weird, he would probably wear socks every time he showered (and sometimes he does).
He has a flat stomach. There is no trace of muscle or flab, it's just flat. He has enough substance on him that no one can see his ribs, but there is certainly nothing to brag about either. He rarely ever takes off his shirt in public. His arms are thin and long, and he has rather dry elbows. All up and down them are scars from where a razor has kissed his skin (most are nearer to his wrist). There is a small star-shaped birthmark on his left wrist that is light pink in colour. Xavier has several lengthy scars on his back from belts. His hands normally still have oil caked somewhere that he hasn't completely gotten off and his fingernails are always dirty. The hair covering Xavier's body is as dark as the hair on his head but it's extremely thin.
Maybe some people think his clothing of choice is odd, but he often thinks the same of theirs. He usually wears a bandanna around his head to keep his long hair out of his face since he doesn't have time for a haircut. More often than not, it's a black one. Xavier owns a lot of v-neck t-shirts and tank tops. When he isn't wearing his ridiculous uniform for the oil refinery, you can find him in that. He only owns one pair of jeans and they are ripped and beat up. They are a darker navy colour and a straight cut. He has a pair of black shoes the just come up to right above his ankle that he always wears.
[/blockquote]History:The first thing people tend to notice about Xavier is his sharp tongue. He almost seems unable to control what comes out of his mouth. He often says things that are both inappropriate and obscene. It is almost like he has absolutely no regard for how what he says will affect people he is around or the situation he is in. The boy has no censor when it comes to how he talks. He voices his opinion whether it is wanted or not. And sometimes it is not very polite because he tends to have a rather vulgar mouth. It is the way he was raised and he sees no problem with any of it. His honestly is more insulting than encouraging and his vulgarity often makes people tend to avoid conversations with him when they don't need to.
Not only is he honest and talkative about things when he doesn't need to be, but he is also loud about it. Xavier has a problem with talking; he sometimes is unaware of how loud he is speaking. His volume increases the more he thinks that he is not being heard, so trying to ignore Xavier's conversations is not a good option. It is amazingly surprising that with his rude and open personality that Xavier would be able to keep secrets, but that it the case. He is someone who never lets anything slip, maybe it is because he has so many secrets of his own. If you tell him a secret he may be rude about it and have things to say on the subject, but he most certainly would never let it be known.
One of the main reasons that he is so loud is because he always needs attention. The brunette often goes out of his way to do something just so someone will pay attention to him. It is because of this trait of his that he finds himself with so many scars and such. The crazier the act, the more attention he receives. Xavier makes outrageous bets all the time and tries to trick people into betting him that he can't do crazy stunts (which of course he then tries to do to prove them wrong).
His daredevil side is not the only reason that he is scarred and bruised in various places. A lot of it has to do with the fact that he is a masochist. Of course he has never been professionally diagnosed, but it is something that is easy to self-diagnose. Xavier craves pain. It is not something that he is good with explaining to people, so he simply does not. Pain of any kind is rewarding to him; it makes him feel better when he isn't at his best. It isn't just physical pain either, but also emotional. Embarrassment is also extremely satisfying when a big enough crowd is there to take witness to his act.
Do not argue with Xavier because he is straight-forward and easy to upset. If someone does something that might upset him, they might want to get out of the way. He is hot-headed and has a fast boiling point. It is easy for him to go from being in a good mood to being angry. Often enough he gets angry about things that normal people wouldn't. When he is upset, he gets careless in his decisions and goes off impulse. It is usually not a very good reaction in any circumstance.
Some people are put off by his personality because he comes off as over-confident. He charges into situations that normal people wouldn't. Xavier has no problem flirting with anything or speaking his mind because he doesn't care. But that sometimes comes off as confidence that he really doesn't have. In Xavier's mind there is nothing special about him, but in other's minds he is full of himself. The truth is that he just doesn't care what anyone is going to say about him. He is going to do things for himself. That can often be misinterpreted by people as selfishness. He takes care of himself first because he believes that it's his life and he has the right to. It's not that he doesn't care about others, even if that is how it seems, just that everyone else comes second in his life.
As if most of his traits aren't bad enough, he has a few more unattractive ones. He is rather disorganized and sloppy. Nothing in his room is neat or clean, his clothes often have stains or dirt, and daily hygiene isn't his biggest concern. Xavier never really plans ahead and is always late for everything. He lives more in the present than the future and has a complete disregard for time. No matter the event, he can be counted on to arrive late to it. Spontaneous is a good word to describe him. Everything is spur of the moment and last minute.
Just because Xavier acts like a complete dumbass sometimes and quiet frequently puts his life in jeopardy, it doesn't mean that he is unintelligent. In fact, he has an IQ 160 though he would never admit it. His maturity level is lower than most people and he has a rebellious streak that makes everyone doubt his intelligence. If you tell him to do one thing, he will most likely do the complete opposite. This is often with people question whether or not he is thick-headed.
[/blockquote]Codeword: odairThe first few years of his life seemed to go by exceptionally fast and it is difficult for him to remember anything from when he was extremely young. Xavier’s earliest memory is from when he was five. It was an extremely cold day and his father was called out to work. His father, Manius, was one of the breeders in the district and often had to stay out late in the winter to make sure the animals were kept in secure, warm locations. That night was ingrained into his mind because it was the night that everything seemed to turn from bad to worse. It was known that Xavier’s father had a violent nature and a quick temper. Xavier just grew up in a family where his father sometimes hit his mother when he was angry. It was just something that happened regularly. He didn’t know any better to think something bad of it because it had happened more often than he cared to try to remember.
It was also a regular occurrence for his mother to bring strange men into the house on nights when his father was gone. “Shh...” She would whisper to him as she lead a different man into her room, “Don’t tell your father or you’ll ruin the surprise.” And he never did; though five year old Xavier always wondered when his mother and these men planned on giving his father their surprise. Unfortunately, it happened to be that night in particular. His father came home early and found Xavier’s mother working on that surprise rather loudly. One thing led to another and Xavier found himself huddled in the corner while he watched his father beat the man to a pulp. Manius screamed at Xavier’s mother and turned to beat her as well. Xavier rocked himself to sleep that night to the sounds of his mother screaming. When he woke up, the man was gone and his parents were asleep in their bed as if nothing had happened.
Kavita, his mother, had stopped bringing men home after that night, but his father’s anger never fled. It seemed that night after night he would continue to take his rage out on Kavita. He never once came after Xavier, or even looked at him again. This seemed to go on for about two years. It became routine; the bruises on his mother’s face never left. She stopped going outside. Sometimes Xavier wished his father would stop coming home. Once it seemed his mother tried to explain what happened to the way his father treated him: “He thinks you were a surprise we made too.” But Xavier didn’t understand what she meant.
When he was seven he wandered into the bathroom one night while his parents were fighting. His father’s razor lay on the side of the sink. Xavier sat on the toilet and stared at it while he listened to his mother cry out in pain and his father scream filthy words at her that he didn’t know the meaning of. The razor stared back at him. I can help you understand, it said. His tiny fingers grabbed it and he pressed the cold metal to his skin. All it took was a deep breath and a red line appeared on the curve of his wrist. He gasped at the feeling and dropped the razor. Is this what his mother was feeling? Xavier picked the razor up off the floor and pressed it to his skin once more. No wonder his mother didn’t fight back. He found relief in the sharp pain that filled him with adrenaline and the blood that fell to the ground.
This became the routine. Once his father started screaming at night, Xavier would end up in the bathroom with the razor. After a short while, yelling or not, he would always venture into the bathroom. He liked the pain so much that it became something he just did. A hobby of his in a way: finding ways to inflict pain on himself. He would get into fights with the boys in the district and fire became his new favourite toy. When he was eight, he finally stood up to his father. He had heard enough of his mother’s screaming to last a lifetime. And he wanted it to stop. Xavier needed to be able to concentrate with his new obsession. He needed to be able to enjoy it without his mother screaming in pain in the next room over. Manius retaliated by taking off his belt and whipping Xavier with it for interrupting. But the pain didn’t bother him. This was a new type of pain that he hadn’t discovered yet. The next day he took off his own belt and flung it over his shoulders in the hopes to create the pain his father had. A year later, unexpectedly one day, his mom brought home another gentleman caller. It had been a long time since Xavier had seen his mother bring home a stranger. She came over to Xavier and kissed him on the head, promising that this would be the last secret he would have to keep for her. Later on in life he would come to believe that she had done it on purpose with a will to die. That maybe it was her final defiance to his father. That night Manius accidentally killed her in a fit of rage after finding the two in bed. She died with her husband’s hands around her neck.
Manius resorted to beating Xavier in the weeks to come but he didn’t find the same reaction he had from his wife. Xavier didn’t scream or cry, but silently enjoyed the beatings. His father’s belt became a toy that brought him happiness, just like his razor was his paintbrush for the canvas of his skin. The fact that Xavier didn’t react like his mother drove Manius insane. He eventually committed suicide and Xavier found his father’s body in the bathtub and the razor on the floor, the razor that had brought him so much pleasure and so much pain.
Xavier lived alone until he was fourteen. He did odds and ends jobs around the district for the wealthy residents to afford to feed and cloth himself. His life did have anything luxurious about it. While his family had left him a small fortune, he refused to use any of the money and instead hid it in a box under his bed. Using his parent's money to live felt like he was trying to hold on to their memory, and Xavier wanted to forget that they even existed. One day he brought home a stranger of his own. She had dark hair, almost black, and eyes that were a deep green. Her skin was of an olive tint and flawless; there wasn't a blemish or a freckle in sight. Her name was Tanya. Xavier was captivated by the way she spoke and the look in her eyes. The girl was three years older than him, but he was tall and mature for his age and able to convince her that he was older than a boy of merely fourteen. She was the daughter of one of the residents he worked for and she seemed just as captivated with him, so he invited her home. Over time they became serious. They realized that they communicated best on a physical level and things between they heated up very fast. She had a problem with self-harm and suicidal thoughts. They seemed to be a good match.
Xavier realized that he was a masochist the first time that he and Tanya became intimate. He liked things rough, his hair pulled, and nails in his skin. But it became more than that because he started to want to experiment. Tanya wasn't as open to the suggestions and their relationship soon ended. It was after that that Xavier started exploring who he was as a person. He became more daring and aggressive and open. Relationships weren't something he was into because it meant something long term that required dedication. He was more into casual hook-ups, and that was easier because gender didn't matter. More recently he has become uninterested in relationships of any type, including friendships. Xavier got a job at the oil refinery because it was the most dangerous job you could get in District 5.

Side note: This character was already made by Tori (which is me). I made a new account because everything about this site and the members is new so I thought it would be appropriate for me to start new too. But this is the only character I want to reuse because I didn't get to roleplay with him much when I made him. Thank you, staffies.
