This morning is one of those times. I knew as soon as I woke up that I had to take some time alone. I said bye to Gramps and left before breakfast. Now, as I look down at the sidewalk, and up at the sky that's still working at becoming brighter, I can't help but let my mind wonder. What would my life be like if I hadn't been attacked. What if my parents kept me, and didn't leave me in District 11 while they went off into the woods. The great 'What if?' Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change a single second of my life for anything, but it's just the fact of what could have been. Being with the two people that loved me enough to set me free. Although the first decade of my life was in the woods, and I've been here since, I'm still very lucky. I got Gramps. He takes care of me, even though he doesn't have to. He's a good person. He loves me, and I love him. He's like a second father to me, just older. But age doesn't matter. What matters is love. I walk into the town square to see few people. mostly just people getting ready to open their shops. I know a few of them due to the amount of small talk I do here. I wave to them as I pass by. I confuse everyone, because they don't know where I came from. I just appeared. They don't ask, they just all assume that they hadn't seen me any as a child. Gramps told me not to tell anyone. |
