Victarion and Dagon were outside tossing woodaxes, Victarion had played this game when he was younger but grew out of it as he lost friends to play with but since Dagon had turned 12 he had seldom stopped. Despite his large body and skill with an axe (He had hacked many of branches to death) he was always fearful that he would be reaped. "Its been four years!" He would begin, "Its going to happen next year, I need to be ready!" Though Victarion also shared his concerns, he did not express them openly with his son. "Don't be silly lad." Was his usually reply when he started talking about the reap but Victarion helped him train his hand-eye coordination, his reflexs and his anticipation skills by playing "The axe game" Victarion had named it when he was 12.
It was raining outside but Victarion didn't mind, though, when he moved his head to quickly he found his low brown hair would slap onto his back or onto his chest with vigorous movement.
"You ready for this?" Victarion called out to his son.
"Bring it old man!" His son, still blessed with youth, shot back.
Victarion tossed a "dummy" axe up into the air and then another low and hard at Dagon's left foot. Victarion watched as his son, who was surprisingly light footed, side stepped the axe going for his foot.. but Victarion shouted with horror.
"Above you!" He called out, the axe fell narrowly missing his son. His heart was racing. "You must always be aware, always!" He shouted to his son as he ran in and embraced him. Dagon struggled to get aware, apparently hugging your dad in public view isn't cool. Victarion was too strong for his son to break away from unaided but he let him go reluctantly. For a huge man, Victarion let his softer side show with his family, though it was rare if an outsider saw through his rough exterior.
