Folium Venturam - District 7

Folium (Liam) is a very handsome boy. He has tan sun kissed skin from working in the forests, shaded just enough to cause a glorious glow on his smooth skin. His eyes are a deep green, so captivating that sometimes the people he converses with lose their bearings. Though they are captivating eyes, they also put out a wondrous glow of warmth and kindness. His dark brown hair is wavy and curled, causing a bird's-nest effect, but he keeps it well enough so instead of coming off as unkempt and dirty, it seems like a swirl of whipped cream. Liam also has a large biceps and forearms from carrying and swinging axes all day as well as lifting fallen trees with the help of the other district's men. Not to mention his leg muscles are very toned from running around on his breaks with his friends.

Liam is also tall, not so tall as to loom over everyone, but tall enough where his eyes look ever so slightly down when he makes eye contact. Making you feel just intimidated enough to make you want to be on his good side. He has long legs, muscular, as stated earlier, and his arms are quite long too. His hands are large, which he uses to his advantage with climbing in the forests and holding multiple things in his hands. To go with his large hands, Liam has big feet as well. "It's always a trouble to find shoes for him," as his mother likes to say. Liam does have a bit of a stomach though, because his family is a little richer than most of the people in the district and can therefore afford more food. He's able to keep this fat from getting out of hand, though when he's twisting and turning while swinging his axe. But he still can't keep up with it.

Liam is somewhat a sporty person. He loves running, in fact he is one of the faster people in his grade, though certainly not the fastest. He is very good at distance running though. He could run all day! Liam doesn't particularly love playing sports, but he gets into them sometimes. He is usually one of the players you'd wanna pick earlier, but there are other kids you'd rather have by a great deal by other boys who are much more athletic than he. Liam has the physicality of a runner, but his muscular arms give away that he doesn't just run. Liam is an easy sweater though, so even if he only puts in a small amount of effort he begins to sweat immediately. This feature helps him to go longer in physical tasks though, because he is kept cooler longer.

Folium's personality is a unique one. He is a very nice and fun loving boy. He has lots of people he can call friends, because of his kind and compassionate disposition, but only a couple does he really feel bonded with. This is because of his reserved personality. He does not like talking about himself and the people he does open up to are people he wholeheartedly trusts. He trusts easily, but not a deep trust, more of a trust that he feels like he can rely on you to do what you're supposed to be doing. He all about being nice, honest, and trustworthy and thinks that anyone who doesn't believe in that is bad. This ties into his stubborness. Though he is known to budge, it takes lots of convincing. He is stuck in his ways and he does not like being moved from them. Liam is a creature of habit and he likes that. He's known to get very aggressive if he is opposed and that is another reason why he doesn't have too many close friends.

Liam loves to learn. He enjoys going to school, but only likes a couple of his teachers. He has very good grades and he enjoys gloating about it whenever he can get the chance. He's also somewhat of a jokester. Though he can get to the point where he makes so many jokes he becomes annoying, he usually can judge when to draw the line. His line is also a very strong line. He is very sensitive and does not do well when insulted, mostly because he is not used to being told no. He also has not tolerance for sexual anything. The most he's ever done is kissed a girl and that's all he plans to do until he is married. He is very loyal, evident by how he sticks to the ways that his parent taught him growing up.

Liam does know one thing about himself that he both contemplates about and hates. He hates the idea of the Hunger Games, but whenever it comes around he can't help but watch. The thing that really gets him, though, is that he's always wanted to know what it's like to be in the Hunger Games. This is one of the many things about his curiosity that he does not understand. He's always thinking about what life in other districts is like as well as what it's like to be in the Capital. Not to mention that along with his opinionated and curious self, he is very talkative. He loves having debates with his close friends about which one of them could win the Hunger Games and what they would do if they ran away.

Liam also is somewhat romantic. He loves the idea of being able to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loves. He's always thinking about which girl he wouldn't mind growing old with and which girl he thinks would be a wonderful mom. He's a very fatherly boy too. He loves being around children and he always tries to be as nice as he can to them. He's extremely family oriented and he always feels that he would risk his life for anyone he loved. The only thing that stands in the way of that idea is that he is slightly cowardly. He is not a coward, but he has no intentions of going out and fighting. Often, when faced with a physical debate he tries his best to talk his way out of it, because he is very good with words. Although he does have the instinct to flee rather than fight, he is more than capable of asserting his dominance when he really has to. He does not like when he feels like the weaker man and if his words mean nothing to his oppressor then he gets physical. Though this is extremely rare behavior, he doesn't have any control over it.

Liam also is very queasy when it comes to blood. He can handle seeing his own blood, but as soon as blood comes from something else he is a wreck. He can't stand when other people are hurt and this is why he is always living in fear when he goes to do his job. Every day somebody gets a severed something. On good days they get severed fingers, on bad days they get severed heads. No matter what, Liam is always a touch away from barfing and he absolutely cannot do anything about it.

Folium also has a problem with prejudice. Before he even meets people he judges them on their looks. This often gives him the wrong impression on others and can easily get him off on the wrong foot. He seems to judge people who hold themselves well as cocky and annoying individuals. People that seem closed or carry themselves with a hunch, Liam likes to think those are the people who he wants to spend time with. Though he has been proved wrong on both accounts he still continues in his way of prejudice. This is why he taunts Peacekeepers and makes snide remarks whenever possible about the Capitol and others that he does not like.

Liam also has a bit of a bossy side, which can get him into trouble. On occasion this can help him with taking the leadership role, though very rarely, this quirk usually makes people mad at him. If he thinks he knows a solution he will immediately start going for it and if people follow, he will tell them what to do with no qualms about it. If people disagree he most often gets into shouting matches and a couple times, actual fights. Liam also does not know he's doing what he's doing until he's had a thorough talking to by his teachers and/or a Peacekeeper.

Liam has a rich history. His family has always been slightly more wealthy than the average District 7 citizen. This is due to the fact that when Liam's great-grandparents were alive, they had lots of children. These children all went into the lumber production, as do almost all of the residents in District 7, but they all but one died, his grandmother. Since she was the only heir of the family left, she inherited everything. Her siblings' and her parents' houses, possessions, and riches. For all of them died before they could start families. This was due to the illness going around at the time. It made people weaker and less able to work. Since the medical help in the Districts is truly awful, and they were less evolved than current times, they all were unable to continue working and improving their physical states. Liam's grandmother was the only person in her family not to catch it, so as she moved on in life she was able to sell all of the houses and receive the money from that. Being a single, rich, young woman in a district, all of the men were vying for her attention. She had many relations before she found Liam's grandfather, who came from the middle class. When they married, they only had one child, Liam's father. Both of Liam's grandparents died when Liam was young, so he didn't get to know them. His grandparents left everything to their son, who moved into his deceased parents' larger home. They sold their old home and could practically swim in the money that they had. They still went to work every day, though, because they had to keep the money coming. They had two more children after Liam. Liam's younger brother, Logger, and then his younger sister, Tick. This is why they are no longer as rich as they first were, for they had to keep up with their children, but they are still rather wealthy. Also a reason why nobody in the family has ever needed tessera.

Liam's mother, Rose, is a very sweet and kind woman. She has Liam's personality, except even more kind. Her posture and her light blue eyes seem to invite you in to receive a long, warm hug. This is probably why she is the more favorite parent among her children, because she would give up anything to keep them safe. She often does not go to work just so that she can stay home with the children when they have days off in school or are sick. She sings songs with her melodious voice and holds her children in her arms until they have fallen asleep. Liam's father, Chop, on the other hand is very strict. He was raised to be tough and to never back down. He often yells at his children for being soft or lazy. Chop also teaches manners like they are a religion. He can't stand when people are sloppy or unorganized and he will not tolerate it in his children. He is a very hard worker and has never, and plans not to, miss a day of work in his life. He is one of the head loggers because he's worked for so long, this is another reason that the Venturams are well off. Logger is virtually a mini-Liam, the only difference is that Logger is blond, like his mother, and five years younger. Logger also has a bit of a temper when it comes to not getting his way. He likes to give his family a hard time. Tick is only four years old. She has brown hair that is curly, just like Liam's, and she is very sweet. Though she resembles her father more than her mother. She has limited speech and can also solve some simple problems like how to escape her high chair and crib. Liam's mother's parents have also died, but before Liam was born. They were from the poor part of District 7, so they did not leave anything.

When Liam was a child he liked to play outdoors a lot. He would go over to his friend's houses and knock on their doors and have them play tag or football with each other. They would run through the forests, dodging and weaving between loggers who shouted their disapproval of the children playing around them. Liam would also throw axes with his best friend, Carter Woods, the one who has debates and has been Liam's best friend since they were three years old. Carter is a dark skinned, very skinny boy who is in the middle class of District 7. He is a lot like Liam in the sense that they both are very good in school and both love to talk and they're both born on the same day. Carter is a lot more competitive than Liam, though, so they would often be found fighting with one another over who could do what best. This is what led them to throwing their axes because they got in a fight one day about who was more more accurate. This spurred from the fact that Carter had killed a squirrel earlier by throwing his splitting maul at it. Liam had told Carter that he thought he could throw the axe better. So they often had competitions to see who could actually throw more accurately and farther.

Liam has also always loved and still does love to taunt Peacekeepers. He will sneak up on them and scare them, then run and hide before they can see where he went. He also throws rocks at them and then hides. One time, Carter got caught and he had to spend a day in the correctional institute. There they made Carter do pushups until it was night time and when he woke up he had to run laps around the building until it was time for him to go. Since then, Carter hasn't taken part in so many of those activities.

Liam goes to work as a logger, like his father. He likes being in the woods with the fresh air and the smell of sap and pine all around. Liam always brings his lucky axe with him, because his father gave it to him from when his father was a child. Liam has never gone to work without using it. It is the most special thing to him and he keeps the utmost care of it. Every night he cleans and sharpens it, then puts it on his shelf. Every morning he gets up and uses it when chopping down the trees.
