Welcome to Neverland [ open ]

Close to the orchards, in an empty part of District 11, there is a house. It's not that big, with a crooked roof, small porch, and blackened walls. The small garden of simple plants covers the front yard, and a short stone path leads to the dirt road. In the back yard, nine trees create a small shelter, where laughter and shouts of delight can be heard. Stories drift out from this place, stories of heroes and damsels in distress, and of dragons and fairies. Music and singing, too, can be heard faintly between the tree's branches.

Welcome to the Marley family.

Now, you'd think with such a small house, the Marley's would be a small family, but it's really quite the opposite. Eight children, total, the eldest eighteen and the youngest ten. They are a poor family and have difficulties feeding themselves, but they all work together, and everyone comes out with a smile. 

People say the Marleys don't raise their children properly. They say that the children are too loud and boisterous, their heads full of untrue fairy tales. They say they aren't taught everything they should, and that they'll never learn what the real world is like unless their parents start putting up rules.

But that's not what the real Marley family is like. Step in the door, and you'll meet quite the wonderful family.

As you know, there are eight children in the Marley family, and they all have very different personalities. I've made a bio for the eldest, Caritta, right here. I'd suggest reading it, as you'll get a better understanding of the Marleys, but it isn't required. 

This is not first come first serve, but I might accept a bio right away if I like it. Please, don't start roleplaying the character until I have roleplayers for at least all the siblings. I'll probably start up a thread then for all eight to roleplay in, so they can get some family time.

A bit of information on the family: first of all, they are not afraid of the reaping. Fear is something this family hates, and the don't care if other people take notice of that. They take as much tesserae as they need, because they have such a large family, and because they aren't afraid of the Games. They're determined to show the Capitol that they have no fear, because that's what the Capitol uses to control the Districts. Basically, the family is showing that they are 'free' from the Capitol in some small way.

Second of all, each child gets a tree planted to represent them when they are born. Each one is different, except for the twins, who both have birches. The trees are planted in the backyard, and they create a small sanctuary for the family, where they spend most of their time. The eat and play out there, and sometimes camp there, too.

And without further ado, let me introduce the characters!

Jack Marley 53 years old, male, father
Jack is the kind, loving father to the Marley family. He's a bit reckless, often going to great lengths to get food for his family.. He works in the orchards, doing his best to earn a living for the family, but it's not always easy. Sometimes he has to work late and hasn't got time to see the kids, but he tries his best to be home on time. When he married Till, they planted a cherry blossom in the backyard, which has now grown into a strong, proud tree, acting as the centerpiece for the small forest in their back yard.

Till Marley 50 years old, female, mother
Till is a sweet girl, and loves her children more than anything else. She grew up in a family where everyone was older than her, which meant she had to grow up faster than most people. She was working in the orchards at an extremely young age, and she knew nothing but rules for the most part of her life. Then she met Jack, and between the two, they decided they didn't want their children to grow up. They wanted to create a Neverland, where it's all fun and games and laughter and fairy tales. Of course, they planned to teach their children what they needed to know, but they wanted kids who would still play make-believe when they were eighteen.

Caritta Marley 18 years old, female, eldest
Caritta is the eldest in the family, and Probably the toughest out of the eight. She works in the orchards for most of the day, but still finds time to play with her siblings and tell stories. She's very close (and competitive) with the other two eldest, Kyle and Cam, and they can usually be found together. Caritta is a growing musician, too, and she loves to play guitar. Sometimes you can hear the kids singing along while she plays something for them. For her, Till and jack planted a maple tree.

Kyle Marley 17, male, eldest brother
Kyle is the eldest male in the house, besides his father. He's friendly and protective of those he loves, but he gets really nervous around girls. His sisters tease him about it, which he hates, but he knows they don't mean it. Like Caritta, he's super-competitive, especially with her and Cam. His tree is an oak, planted to complete a triangle with the other two trees.

Camille Marley 16 years old, female, drama queen
Camille doesn't exactly love her name, so she insists that everyone call her Cam. She's the biggest drama queen in the whole house, making little problems seem like huge catastrophes. She's close to Kyle and Caritta, and enjoys anything active, from running to swimming to climbing. She can be sarcastic at times and a little hurtful, but she doesn't always mean it. For her, Till and Jack planted an orange tree, just outside the first three trees.

Fritz Marley 14 years old, male, first twin
fritz is one of the two twins in the Marley family. He's a joker and a prankster, always speaks his mind, and has a fiery temper. Like Kyle, he's super protective of the family, and often gets into fights with Peacekeepers when they are punishing someone. He loves to make people laugh, especially when his twin, Teddy, is there to help him. For him, a birch tree was planted, next to the orange tree.

Theodore Marley 14 years old, male, second twin
Theodore, or Teddy, as everyone calls him, is Fritz's twin. He's a little quieter than Fritz, but still has a very similar personality. He has a short temper as well, but not quite as short as Fritz. He's more of a family guy, and enjoys the company of his other siblings as well. He's close to the two younger kids, Acacia and Jace, mostly because they're the different kids. They're the ones who don't always seem to fit in. The Misfits, they call themselves. His tree, like Fritz, was a birch.

Acacia Marley 12 years old, female, sweetheart
Acacia was born with hardly any strength, and pale yellow skin. They expected her to die, but she didn't. She survived, but never became as strong as her brothers and sisters. She's skinnier than all of them, and you can usually see her bones pressing against her pale skin. She's shy yet curious, and loves it when other people want to play with her, even if she can't always keep up. Her tree is a willow, completing the square just outside the inner triangle.

Mary Marley 10 years old, female, angel
Miss Perfection, as her siblings call her when they're angry. She's the perfect child, the one who does everything right and never tells a lie. Her siblings are convinced she's never broken a rule. She's fair and likes everyone, and everyone likes her, even the Peacekeepers. Her tree is an ash, planted between the two birches, a few feet outside the square.

Jace McKendrie-Marley 11 years old, male, orphan
The last child of the Marley family. He came in two years after Mary, when he was three. Since Till and Jack were unable to have any children, they agreed to choose one from the orphanage. The whole family went, and together they decided on Jace. His parents were killed by Tracker Jackers in the orchards, and he'd been in the orphanage for two years. He's wild and a little rambunctious, the most likely to get into trouble, but still part of the family. He's energetic and loves to play, and he fit right in with Acacia and Teddy. His tree was an elm, planted opposite the ash, completing the small forest in the Marley's backyard.
