Sometimes betrayal lunges like a knife - into the sick, abandoned minds of the ineffable loneliness of those confined. Last minute recollections of a life once lived, but attenuated from existence within a single night. The cynosure of life banished from the prisoner's own, cast into a dark shadow. Whether these optic images return to them in nightmares or daydreams, they stay, and the past of sociality slowly fades away, like the evanescent light of the doomsday sunset.
Welcome to the Inglenook
You are here to stay.
Doctor Gilbert Rosenberg, the owner of the demesne known to the District as The Inglenook, is such a surreptitious man he was able to escape ever being discovered by anyone but his prisoners what was going on. The girls, that is, were always orphans. People with no connections, no one to miss them.
Each girl was carefully selected. The prettiest, the ugliest, the smartest, the dumbest, the most extroverted, the most introverted they could locate that were available to them for selection. Eventually he had a fine group, and each was imprisoned in a cell two meters wide, two meters long, and two meters high. Then they were each given a child. The father of the children is currently unknown, no information was given to them except that their children would be better. After birth the raising of the children began. Inside the cells - no sunlight. Ever.

Female
Dr. Rosenberg's Personal Assistant and Commons Monitor
Age 23
A good relationship with both the girls, children, and Dr. Rosenberg. She tends to be extremely dramatic, getting excited and scared very easily. She enjoys seeing the children play together and is often trying to increase the social time, successfully extending the second by thirty minutes. She has pushed away Dr. Rosenberg's many attempts at wooing her. She is responsible each year for transporting the girls to and from the Reaping blinded, deafened, and silenced, relatively unnoticed.
Azalea Schneider
Female
Age 18
Son: Mason (Age 3)

Azalea is the most intelligent orphan he could find, and she was so easily lured into the building by his lies. Her memory of the sun is the brightest, and she has taken it upon herself to remind the girls of what the outdoors looks like. She does not let them forget.
Noelle Hershey
Female
Age 18
Daughter: Hope (Age 3)
Noelle is a kind soul, but her head is full of air and she has difficulty understanding most things. Simple as a brick, but impossible not to love. Her child is much like her, and both try to keep to one corner and play together, as though they were the same age.
Phoebe Marie
Female
Age 18
Son: Clyde (Age 3)
Phoebe has her own secrets to keep. Never does she share them, and rarely does she socialize. She is enveloped by nostalgia most of the day, and when she watches her son play with the other children she only remembers the family she had long, long ago. That would have missed her had they been alive.
Calantha Rome
Female
Age 18
Son: Vincent (Age 3)
Before being lured into the prison, Calantha was a gorgeous, bubbly young teenager with so many hopes and dreams. It only died for a while before it erupted, her imagination soring into the skies with pretend of a better environment.
Faye Ferrah
Female
Age 18
Daughter: Lara (Age 3)
Faye was always the inventive type. As soon as it was stunted she went insane, begging for things to do from December. Every day she begs again, or asks the girls if they have anything she could use. Her hands shake with need to build, and her daughter has received so little attention Dr. Rosenberg has considered getting rid of her and giving Lara to another mother.
Serenity Berklee
Female
Age 18
Daughter: Esperanza (Age 3)
Serenity loves children, and plays among them regularly during the social time. She believes she was blessed to receive a child, and often thanks Dr. Rosenberg when he comes for his monthly visit to the girls. Some of the others think she is a bit of a suck-up, leading her to not having many peer friends.
Ann Light
Played by Who
Female
Age 18
Daughters: Elle and Holly (Age 3)
Ann ended up with twins, Elle and Holly, almost identical. She is a quiet type, but naturally friendly and adaptable in most situations. but even though there are plenty of people around her during social time, and two people with her when not,she still feels alone. So, so alone.
Vanity O'Meyer
Female
Age 17
Son: Lysander (Age 2)
Always a stubborn, hot-tempered one, Vanity is always trying to convince the girls to team up in an escape. The youngest mother, she also suffered the most complications in birth and lost her first child before birth, and had to be retried again a year later. She hates her son, and is also on Dr. Rosenberg's list of to get rid of.
Elena Wocket
Female
Age 16
Childless
Elena sits in the commons all the time, because there was no cell for her and she was too young to carry a child. But she is a special one, indeed. One day soon she is due to carry Dr. Rosenberg's very important child, but not quite yet. All she does is think. She never speaks, and she never moves. The only person she interacts with at all is Calantha.
