In the heart of district 12, lives a family. Now this family is rich by the district standards and they are wonderful people. They own a vegetable shop and live right above it in a small apartment. The dad died long ago, and they live with their mom and their grandma. They seem as if they had everything. They have money, they have each other. Only every one of the kids have a physical or mental disability. Some say it is the curse of the Lane family, others think it might be bad luck.

Whatever it is the family holds together, through bad and good. They are teased, not only for the money, but sometimes the kids drown themselves in tears, because of the insults they get for being who they are. Well mama told them when they were young, that they are different in a good way. They should ignore the other kids and just be themselves.

So what! That's her motto. For a girl from a poor district she is pretty self-centered and egoistic. She doesn't really care about much except getting her way. She is a rebel and does what she wants and when she wants. the fact that she is mute won't stop her. She still manages to be the loudest one in the house. She makes sure that she is not ignored and never will be. Despite her hate of pretty much everything, she actually is the only one in the family that hunts. When her dad was still alive she used to go to the edge of the forest with him and hunt. Now she has taken that responsibility as her own.

Medea is a shy girl, maybe because she is blind and doesn't know what everything looks like. She always is in the shadow of her other triplets and doesn't say much even though Echo complains all the time that she has a voice and should start using it. She likes her quiet time and spends alot of the time sniffing the flowers and such. When Echo goes hunting she would come to the edge and sniff the flowers. She helps a lot with growing vegetables and in the shop, she is the most responsable out of the family.

The bookworm of the family. She always has her nose in a book and dreams of being the best writer in panem one day. She likes to read since she can't hear anyone. She is always spouting random facts out of nowhere and sometimes gets very annoying for the rest. She never really does anything but read and once she starts it's hard to get her to stop. Actually it's impossible to get her to stop. She is a very dedicated person and always is doing what she says she will do and takes everything for word.

He is an odd boy and everyone truly thinks he is a freak, even his siblings, but they aren't allowed to say that. He truly believes he can communicate with the dead and is constantly saying he has been in contact with his dad. When people try to talk reason with him and say he can't talk to ghosts, he goes all crazy and starts yelling at people. The only one that seems to be able to calm him down when he is like that is Hestia. Though when he isn't raging he is pretty sweet and loyal to everyone in the family. Sometimes Echo compares him with a dog.

Blame everything on the alcohol. Every stupid thing he says or done is always blamed on his drinking problem. Since he was 12 he was constantly drunk and nobody seems to care or know till he was 15. Apparently that didn't stop him. He is always drunk and their mom is starting to worry about him, though Echo has always said if he wants to die because of a stupid drink let him be. He barely comes out of his bedroom and when he does, it isn't pretty. He is a complete mess and smells like the worst thing you can imagine.

Hestia has only her left arm. Though she manages to get by everyday. She is probably the sweetest one of the family. She is always asking if anybody needs help just because she wants to help. She hates being useless and hates everybody that upsets her siblings. If someone were to upset anybody from the family, they better watch out because she is not one to mess with. She will show them that there family is strong and not to be messed with.

She is bad ass, for a twelve year old girl with only her left arm. She wants to be just like Echo, a rebel and a trouble maker. Sometimes she goes out in the woods with Echo and they just make as much noise as possible not caring if a peace keeper comes and takes them away. She pretends not to be afraid of anything. She pretends as if she were perfect. She pretends that she doesn't care about what happens. In reality she cares about her family so much that if something happened to her family she would be lost on tears.
