sitting on top of one of the random houses around the area, I sat on top of it enjoying the view from the top of the house. Staring out at the sun as it began to get close to the horizon, I take a drink from the flask i had gotten after work at the mill and gazed out, enjoying the down time. After a 7 hour shift at the mill, school, dad getting psychotic, I needed this time to sit and rest... Sighing I glanced around at the people as they went about their business around the area where people were shouting out their wears as the temperature cooled down.
"hot tea, come and get it! all of the money go to the recent tributes families! help them in their time of need, it would mean the world to them!" glancing down, i saw a small girl and her mother set up with a crate and selling some sort of drink to people... Sighing, I thought about the recent games. Those guys were too damn young to have been put in that place...they looked weak and too soft to be in that event When I had seen the games. They hadn't even made it out of the bloodbath, and i could have sworn i heard a mom scream when the other tribute had killed her... breathing a bit quietly, I jumped down from my vantage point and put my flask in my pocket, leaving my bag at the top of the roof; Id be back soon enough. Walking over quietly with my hood over my head and trying to be inconspicuous, I walked over to the duo. Sometimes being a big guy had its disadvantageous...for example trying to be quiet and get through a crowd without being noticed. I walked over to the two and glanced down at the small girl... She couldn't be more than 10 years old. She seemed a little intimidated, and i smiled gently at the girl and turned my gaze to the woman. Without a saying a word, i put down a hefty amount of my salary and watched the woman as she looked up quizzically. I simply looked at her and smiled sadly and turned away when the girl gave me the drink. She saw the amount that i had placed down and looked up at me and....damn, if that wasn't a beaming smile, then I didn't know what was. I placed my hand on the top of her head and scuffed her hair a bit and then walked away, trying to be as quiet as possible. Putting the tea on a ledge, i went back to the house and climbed back up easily to the top of the house, feet dangling as i sat there and picked up my drink, keeping my hood up and smiling sadly as i thought about the games and work...and hopefully i wouldn't come home to dad being crazy again, I thought quietly to myself as i smiled gently again.
