So my character and another character are in a fight where we're using the attack dice. We're stopping once we reach thirty damage since 40 is death, but what happens after the fight? Does he immediately lose all his damage after we visit the hospital or is it one of those gradual things like in the Hunger Games where you half hit each day?

Is it for a plot? If not then it would be best to do a Just for Fun Fight. These fights are just for fun, it means that severed limbs etc. Don't count for anything. Basically the rules are yours to make. And in the end your character suffers no damage or cuts/wounds.

If you want it to be a proper fight any severed limbs stay with the character. That is why most people generally tend to do just for fun fights as they are far more relaxed. In a real fight it wouldn't matter what damage your character was at, as soon as you started a new thread it would be back to 0. Unless for plot purposes it was to be expected to be different.

If you skip over time then you can say the bone fixed, if not, then you'd still have a broken bone.
