Taddeus Fibb was the awkward middle child of his family of five. Once upon a time, around the age of nine, he was the Fibb runt. But, as he grew, he grew in much the same vein as his three brothers (two younger, the other the eldest) and sister (second oldest). He topped at 5' 8", shorter than his younger brother, taller than his eldest brother, weighing in at the family average of 115 lbs. One of the Fibb family gifts was an astounding metabolism that kept each of the children in good shape, despite that their typical everyday outdoor menial labor would have probably done the trick.Personality:
Tadd inherited the family's signature strange mix of nearly chestnut blonde and a very pale auburn, leaving each of the Fibbs topped with a vibrant bronze shade of hair. Unlike his sister and three brothers, Taddeus and his youngest brother were born with dark brown eyes, as opposed to the others' sets of lustrous emerald irises. He and the youngest Fibb actually might as well be twins; little Eddy quickly replaced Tadd as the runt, especially after Tadd's second youngest brother exceeded both of them. Both Eddy and Tadd have similarly sharp features, large eyes, and an olive skin that gives the impression of a permanently faded tan.
Personality: Taddeus Fibb has been mostly dominated by middle child syndrome; it's the primary reason for his general lack of ambition, careless nature, and false sense of security. The trouble is pegged on the youngest, the responsibility is dumped on the eldest. Taddeus is content with falling somewhere in the middle, where childhood can be enjoyed through a window of near-invisibility. He is rarely bothered by his family, except to do his regular chores, and thus gets a certain amount of freedom. When extra rations are required, his oldest brother, Gull, typically paid for the tesserae. Ever since Gull turned 19, his sister Marina took on that burden. Living in a comfort zone was something of a curse in reality, but Taddeus was touched by an ignorant bliss that only true peril (which seemed so distant within the eye of the storm) could taint.History:
Taddeus was something of an introvert, by choice, of course. He could be social if the situation required it, but communication with his siblings was uncommon what with the strict partitioning of chores and odd jobs they undertook around the District. Tadd mostly specialized in jobs that required sea life classification. He frequented the library when he was younger, and learned a lot about his community and their livestock (mostly types of fish) along the course of his growth. He is somewhat averse to menial labor, preferring obstacles that required logic of wit or trivia to overcome. These were sparse, naturally, so he took to all the physical trappings of any District 4 citizen.
Having grown up with rougher brothers, Taddeus was closer to Marina most out of his four siblings. Instead of the grit and natural masculinity of his brothers, Taddeus instead adopted the sensitivity and reliance on caution and prior knowledge when problem-solving or making difficult decisions. Though he was an introvert by choice, as mentioned before, his oldest brother Gull often chided him for his quietness and femininity. This forced him to grow a habitual defense system; he becomes easily paranoid when spoken to in a way that could be interpreted negatively, and is prone to short bursts of temper and snark.
History: Taddeus "Tadd" Fibb was the middle child in the family of Tibbs, born to Triton and Sapphira Fibb, brother to siblings Marina, Gull, Eddy, and Dockett Fibb. His family, once upper middle class in District 4, sank to upper lower class after the birth of Gull and Marina. Taddeus was a sickly child at birth and contracted Pertussis. His family paid a fortune for the vaccine DTaP, since most medicines were expensive these days, and was left with just enough to live on relatively comfortable. Possibly triggered by her sudden change in social class, Sapphira developed atypical depression, blaming Taddeus for the family's downfall. Further complications resulted when the whooping cough returned; the family, confused as to the potency of the expensive vaccine and frightened by the possibility of additional expenses, rushed Taddeus to the clinic. He was diagnosed with chronic asthma, which comes and goes with little warning. However, as a child, Taddeus never experienced an attack. It was not until he was 9 that the first occurred, during a diving trip. Not used to being underwater for such a lengthy period of time, and finding it insanely difficult to procure air in the deeper levels, Taddeus panicked. This was the only serious event, however. By not putting himself in situations that he knew could cause him to panic and trigger an attack, Tadd avoided actually suffering from his asthma.Codeword: Odair
With the birth of his younger brother Eddy, Taddeus found a new purpose. He had become close with his sister Marina, and adopted many of her more feminine qualities. He shunned the more physical of his chores in favor of those requiring logic or fact-checking. He frequented the District library and read up on the astounding variety of sea life that made up the communities primary source of income. This gave him an advantage over his brothers, who merely hunted whatever they could find. Taddeus, though rarely a fisherman, could decide what would be more worthy to catch and direct his brothers to go after one fish over another. He still kept them at a distance, mostly because of the insults he got from Gull and even youngling Dockett for his subjects of interest. Gull had taken Dockett under his wing and converted him to his idiotic views on the ways one gender should behave compared to the other. Eddy was Tadd's chance at a brother he could love.
Eddy also took well to Tadd's teachings of the many different types of fish found in the District. Along the way, Eddy developed his own talent for hook crafting, and the two shared their interests. Taddeus took to remaining with him to help with chores long after his parents decided Eddy could fare alone.
So, Tadd's closest friends evenly balanced out to Marina and Eddy. The three of them would occasionally sit around and share books they had borrowed from the library, in their free time. Gull and Dockett became the family's primary form of physical labor, eventually joined by Eddy when he decided he would rather dabble in a bit of everything. Tadd, at first opposed, was convinced by Marina to let him become what he wanted to be, just as Tadd wished had been allowed. Eddy became the family favorite by about 9. He spent less and less time with Tadd until the middle Fibb faded into the background once more, focusing on his personal studies and distancing himself again from his other siblings.
