“Just because we don’t only see starving people, it doesn’t mean we’re all selfish. We just have vision that can see other things like normal people, buildings, and trees.” Wyatt had finally spoken after the things he did just a bit ago. "You know Wyatt. Why is it that I'm the only one who seems to give a damn about improving the conditions in the district. You say others feel this way. I don't see it anyone including you trying to help me. Everyone in the Capitol and anyone who supports them are terrible human beings who should burn to death." Axel was burning up and it scared him. Where did the sudden anger come from? The district conditions were messing with his head and escaping was one way to help clear his head.
“You can’t hurt Billy. You’re at work, think about that. It’s not worth fighting Billy just because he gets a little extra food, even less to chop him to bits.” Selfish and cruel were the first two things that came to mind when he thought of people hoarding food for themselves. "Oh I can hurt Billy if I so choose to. Work or no work if I want to hurt someone I will do it regardless if a peacekeeper is here. You may not think its worth fighting for someone who is selfish and cruel, but I do." “It was a joke. I was just trying to make a point. Let’s not get too heated, Axel—just take a few breaths.” Wyatt was right. He needed more then a few breathes in order to calm down. Leaving the district sounded better and better the more he considered it.
Axel shocked himself with the thought of killing someone. The fact that he had a thought like that deeply upset him. Killing someone had never entered his mind until just now, and that was a unfamiliar and disturbing feeling for him. Noticing that he held his work axe in his hands, he looked up with a clear head. The air was refreshing and mostly everyone was returning to work. He knew there would be one person that hadn't gotten back to work. Axel threw his axe in a nearby tree. The axe was a reminder of the horrible thoughts he just had and leaving this place would help get rid of them. He turned to Wyatt and gave him a silent goodbye before walking away from the work place.
