It was Wednesday, meaning that all the gardeners were out doing their thing. It was flower week, though; therefore all the flowers were being replanted for the fall time. Their house needed to look beautiful year round, right? She personally didn’t agree with the arrangement for the flowers to be planted year round. It was a waste of money and a waste of energy from the gardeners. ”Hello, Ivan. Good morning Heather. How is everyone?” she said to the group of people gathered around her front windowsill. She tried to be as polite to them as possible, but sometimes it was hard with the noise that they made. But that wasn’t their fault; they were only there to do their job. ”Water is in the front of the fridge, feel free to take some if you’d all like.” Jane continued down the path of rocks. It lead to the front entrance, however there was an occasional pathway that led to somewhere else. One path that leads to the gazebo, another went to the back yard, and another went to the tree house that she used to spend her childhood in. She remembered that tree house; not all the memories were very good. She remembered falling out of it as a young girl; then the pain that shot through her arm; then the rushing to the emergency room. Wasn’t that just the best memory for a place that’s supposed to be fun? A small laugh escaped her lips as she thought about how funny she must have seemed back then. Such a bigger girl, more curves and fat layers. Now she was thinner and still unhappy with herself. I was so naïve back then. To think that I thought I was beautiful! It’s kind of funny how I was happy and then I turned into this new me. I still don’t feel all that great about myself, but what can you do? Just keep changing yourself.” Jane put on her brave face and exited her property. She was no longer able to hide behind the thick curtains of her room, she now had to go out and brave the world for her mother. Her mother was doing a bit of housework today and decided it was also the day that she needed a bunch of food. The result of which caused for Jane to have to exit the house and go food shopping; one of those things that she hated. She disliked being shoved into a situation here she had to talk to a new person; or where she had to give money to someone; or actually any social interactions with people she didn’t know. But food shopping was one of the worst. You had to ask where products were, had to give the money to the lady at the register, and you had to act like you were perfectly sane on the inside –when, in fact, you aren’t.- Her mother was forcing her to go though, so she had to. One foot after another, breathe deep and then exhale, smile a little bit as you pass the neighbors. You’re a normal human functioning in this new society that requires everyone to be fine. You are normal. No you’re not. You’re ugly and everyone hates you. Her mind went back and forth between good thoughts and bad ones. She wasn’t emotionally stable, not by a long shot. Jane needed help, but the only help she could get was her therapist. And god knew he was useless. Taking a deep breath, she continued on forward. A simple smile at one of the neighbors and then she looked straight ahead. She was at the end of her street and she wouldn’t have to smile at anyone else until she got to the store. There were no other neighbors around that she had to see every day. Jane turned the corner and her face dropped from the perky, upbeat, smile that she had plastered on. The store was only a few more shops down, just a little bit more walking. She read over the list: Milk Flour Corn Syrup Starch Steak Beef Not too much to get, but enough that she might need a bit of help when carrying it home. When the problem arises, that was when she would deal with it. She continued to make her way towards the store, stepping over the occasional rock that strayed onto the path beneath her. The sidewalk was beaten down from the constant use in the past, but it was still very noticeable. The air conditioning of the store smacked her in the face as she stepped into the grocery store. The unbearable heat outside was kept there, because inside this store it was nice and cool. Jane took a moment to gather her bearings, and then looked around for the small hand basket she needed to put all the stuff in. It was to the left of her. Bending down to grab one she felt something staring at her back. It made her uncomfortable so she stood straight, basket it hand. Who was watching her and why? It didn’t feel right, so she turned and moved further into the stores. The isles were plentiful, so she shouldn’t have a problem anymore with someone watching her. And even if they were watching her, what was so interesting? She was a depressed and lonely girl just looking for the corn syrup. There it was, right in front of Jane. She slipped it into her basket and moved down into the isle next to hers. Dryer products were in this one, so the flour was at the end of it. Right at the end of the isle was exactly where the flour was, just as she had suspected. She also slipped that into the basket right next to the corn syrup. Without looking she turned the corn of this isle and tried to get into the next one. However there was a younger girl right in front of her. Jane bumped into her, dropping the basket onto the floor. She bent over to pick it up, feel those eyes on her yet again. It sent a shiver up her spine. ”I’m so sorry,” she mumbled, barely able to be heard. the words 1061 the tags Reasons the outfit here the notes let's go! |
