Dead silence.
Thats the one word that can describe the streets right now. Dead silent. Usually the mornings are filled with bunches of people heading off to the factories, but today is different. People are still walking towards the factories, obviously, they never get days off, some even running. I'm not old enough to be a worker yet, being the small 12 year old girl I am. I forgot when you start working there. Was it 18? 17? I'm not sure. Somewhere around that age. Of course, it probably isn't actually silent, I'm probably just completely tuning them out. The smoke fills my lungs, as it always does. The ground is rough and slopes, as it always is. But something is different in the atmosphere.
I'm lost in thought. Thinking of meadows full of flowers and some old "beautiful" arenas. When I slam into a girl. She was just standing there. and my head hits right at her bellybutton. I fall onto my back and wince in my pain as the concrete slams into my back and legs. My face scrunches up in pain as I push myself up with my arms, slowly, and very careful not to hurt myself even more or fall back down on my back. I scrunch my face as I slowly stand up.
I study the girl closely. She looks more well fed then me, easily, and has pretty blonde hair. I can't tell what color her eyes are though. My sister used to tell me that you can always tell a person's personality if you look close enough into there eyes. Even if it's a complete stranger that you've never seen before. I smile inside my head, and sigh at the same time. Careful not to do it on the outside so she thinks I'm "happy" we slammed into each other. She also looks maybe about 18 years old, 6 years older then me if I did the math right. I push some dark brown hair out of my eyes, still glaring at the girl. Then I realize it was my fault and my eyes soften out of there glare and into an apologizing look.
Erm, s-sorry I stammer nervously, hoping she isn't one of those really mean girls who will yell her head off at me and curse at me.
