Jonas is a handsome boy. His head is small compared to his muscular body. He stands at a nice 5"8 and weighs a good 145. His face is almost always dirty and constantly chapped from the wind. His looks do not stand out from the rest. Though he has big ears, which he hates and occasionally gets teased about. But other than that he really doesn’t look like anything special. Freckles cover his slim cheekbones giving off the impression of dirt. A head of greasy dark hair lies on his head. Jonas keeps it parted and combed back behind his ears. His bangs fall over on the left side of his forehead.
Jonas has special even though many do not recognize it. The tint of his irises is a sort of almond color with flecks of blue. The season determines how definite and bright the blue flecks are. Although his eyes are tucked under a thick dark brow. A thin upper lip and fuller low lip take on the color of a pale pink that is bland and blends in to the rest of the boy's face.
Jonas always looks filthy. But what why try to stop it when you’re a stables boy? He is always getting dirty from corralling the horses into there the fields and shoveling their waste from their stables. He is always in the dirt and just has gotten tired of cleaning up and then in the next six hours he ends up being just a dirty as before. He has grown quite strong from his work and is constantly getting stronger.
Jonas is a loner. He hasn't chosen the be this way it just kind of happened. Being a stables boy has his attention 24/7. When he is not sleeping he his tending the horses in his stables by exercising, feeding, and cleaning up after them. He is the only person who works at his stable and doesn't get many visitors, only when the capitol people come to take the horses to the capitol. His mellow or calm demeanor helps when he needs to get the horses to do what he wants.
The boy can slack at times but is forced into efficiency because of weekly check ups the district has on his stable. If the horses aren't healthy or properly exercised then your food supply gets cut in half. But sometimes the inspectors forget to come, giving Jonas some extra lazy days. He is extremely smart and knows how to trick the horses into doing what he needs them to do even if they refuse. He can figure out behaviors and personalities just the first few minutes he meets a new animal or person. Something just clicks. He can tell what there going to do when he does something before he does it. This skill makes him an excellent care taker.
Independent? Yes. Jonas has always been independent, always wanting to do everything himself never needing any help. He likes the feeling of accomplishment and doesn't feel it when other help him. Even the slightest advice, Jonas sees as spoon-feeding. This made him quite difficult to parent.
The Games. Jonas finds no point in complaining about the Games like most do. They are going to happen anyway. He also doesn't live in fear of being picked for the games. If he were to be picked it wold be terrible, but he wouldn't spend all he time feeling sorry for himself. HE would do everything in his power to learn how to stay alive. If he died then he wold be dead. He would die a hero fighting as hard as he cold to win. He looked at it like everyone's going to die eventually whats the difference between a severed head or in your sleep? They both have the same outcome, death.
Jonas history is quite bland. Commonly, he grew up in a small poor house with lots of brother and sisters. His parents loved him dearly but were often distracted with other thing to tell him so. That didn't really matter to Jonas. He never really paid much attention to his parents. He was thankful that they fed his hungry stomach and provided shelter in the cold, but he never really built much of a relationship with them.
Jonas just kind of went off and did his own thing. He meant nothing person by it, he was just a dreamer. He wanted to explore and learn. JOnas still holds this kind of demeanor, but it's slowly been picked apart by the years, upon years that he's been works. Since ten years old he's been working with the horses. He was forced to take care of them and do it well or he might not get fed. This was not a punishment from his family, but from the government. HE still remembers fearing the days when the inspector came to his small barn. He'd often shake when he watched the inspector slowly examine his barn and everything in it. THough as he got older he got used to them and cared less about them. The inspectors got older as time went on and usually missed one or too things that were wrong, or he would come at all!
Jonas would often have a shift so late he didn't want to walk all the way home. So he didn't! Instead, he slept on the loft above the horses and as time slowly went on he basically moved in. Ever day he'd bring a thing or two from his room at home just make things more comfortable when he did spend the night. He eventually moved in not really coming home or ever wanting to. It was isolation, but Jonas liked it. His barn was the farthest from town and bordered the district. It was peaceful. No one bothered him and his work was always done. What more could he need?
