Age: 18
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 4
Appearance:
Arroyo (Roy) has smooth tan skin. This is the kind of skin typically found on any resident of District Four, because they're all always out in the sun. Roy has a slender face that curves into a rounded chin. This gives him a strange appearance at first, but when you look at him again it gives him a soft face that makes you want to get to know him. Alas, Roy does have some acne, as with almost any teenager, but he tries to to keep it to a minimum. Roy has dark green eyes that seem to be there just to make you feel like you're being judged. They portray no emotion and seem to just stare at and study you.
Roy has a tall body, around six feet tall and he weighs around 170 pounds. This is due to the fact that his body has more muscle than it appears to have. Roy also possesses large hands and feet, which he teased about by his family because he constantly needs new shoes. Roy has a bit of a slender appearance though, so the weight is distributed evenly throughout his body.
Personality:
Roy is a particularly competitive soul. He likes to annoy people purely for the sake of feeling as if he has an advantage over them. Somewhat like a bully, but he does not go so far as to make others feel bad about themselves. He seems to just want to aggravate them enough to give him an advantage. As you can probably guess, this gives him a major disadvantage when he's trying to make friends. He has never had a true friend his whole life and that's because he's so competitive that he drives them away.
Along with the fact that Roy is competitive comes with the fact that he's persistent. He will not drop a subject until it is determined who has "won" it. Whether or not the situation is that he must continually ask a question until he gets an answer, or if he continues an argument until he has won. The bull-headed nature comes from his father, who can't stand Arroyo. As you can imagine, the two have too many disputes to ever get along.
The fact that Arroyo and his father have never gotten along means that he has unfulfilled childhood emotional issues. Stemming from this is the source of his annoying personality. He knows he's annoying but he doesn't know how to control himself or stop it. Once in a while he can break character and be kind and funny, but most of the time he isn't. You can also tell when he's trying to make friends with you when he's trying too hard to be funny or nice and ends up looking like an idiot.
History:
Arroyo has middle class family. They are more towards the poorer end of the scale, which has taught Arroyo modesty. Arroyo's father, Jason, works full-time as a fisherman to help support the family. Arroyo's mother, Elise, is a stay-at-home-mom who no longer really has a job. Her youngest child is Arroyo, and since Arroyo is 18, she finds herself babying him. Arroyo has two older siblings, both brothers. Arroyo's eldest brother, Clark, works as a fisherman with his father, but the middle child has left the family and never been seen by them again. Arroyo's family is constantly putting him under pressure to get reaped. He is their last chance at pride.
Arroyo has a good history in school. Although it's not particularly exceptional it is not awful. He keeps in the C range, but once in a while he'll get B's. Arroyo, as stated previously, does not have too many friends, so he tries to focus his efforts into that. But he sadly has never been able to succeed in it so he continually gets worse and worse grades due to his depression and lack of friendship. This is why Arroyo has developed a competitive sense, if he can be them he has to beat them.
When Roy was young he would often play with his older siblings. When Roy was twelve his middle brother left the family and they couldn't find him again. They don't know if he died or just left, but it broke all of their hearts. Since then the family has grown farther and farther apart. Jason has gradually fought with the family more and more. Clark has become much more shelled up and quiet. The only one who could possibly be mistaken for being improved is Elise, who tries her hardest to keep her youngest son there at the house. For fear that he will leave her too.
