My heart sings a melody
Oh, hello, my name is Alina but please, just call me Melody, I hate my actual name. I'm sixteen years old and I live in District eight. People call me melody because I am a shameless Choir geek and I love to sing. I'm a top soprano voice and I'm a female.
An everlasting melody
I placed the pencil into my honey blonde hair held up in a pony tail and look around at my choir friends. There aren't many of us at this school, in fact I don't even think you could call us a choir, we, altogether, have 9 members. 5 soprano's and 4 alto's. I don't mind though, we're all nice and close, all of us going over to each others houses on the weekends and after school. My closest friend, Cotton, smiles at me, her pearly teeth showing and I returned her smile, my brown eyes shining. She was also a Soprano voice and we'd known each other since we were in grade school, she was my first friend. "Alright, guys, let's take it from the top" I said, opening up my worn music book. It was a gift to me from my grandmother before she passed away a few years ago and I treasure it so much because I was very close with my grandmother. She was a singer like me and that was the one thing we bonded over, music. I looked at the others and played a few notes on the old piano, giving everyone their pitches. Taking a deep breath, my voice began the solo. "This is the sound of one voice, one spirit one voice, the sound of one who makes a choice, this is the sound of one voice, this is the sound of one voice" I paused to take a breath before one of the other girls joined me, singing a harmony. "This is the sound of voices two, the sound of me, singing with you, helping each other to make it through, this is the sound of voices two, this is the sound of voices two" I loved this song, it was so simple but so beautiful at the same time. Cotton joined us for the last part of the trio. "This is the sound of voices three, singing together in harmony, surrendering to the mystery, this is the sound of voices three, this is the sound of voices three." Our tuning was amazing.
A tune of love, a song of peace
As we finished the song, we didn't have to go back this time, it seemed, we had this song down and would be able to perform it eventually.
