O P A L S H O R E
Opal Shore was drunk. One too many drinks had made its way into her system, poisoning her limbs and body, filling them with the toxins. Why had she picked up that first glass and poured the entire contents down her throat? Because she could. Because there was no one in this godforsaken world that could tell her she wane;t allowed to. No one. Not one single person had the right to tell her she couldn’t drink, or that it wasn’t good for her, or that it could lead to lots and lots of problems. You know why? Because it wasn’t their life, it was hers.
The half full bottle of alcohol shook in her hands.
The first few steps she took were a horrid re-enactment of her first steps after getting the fake leg attached to her body. She reached towards the wall near her, body telling her it was right there, ready to catch her. It turns out it was a meter away and as she leaned forwards there was nothing but air to catch her and she slammed into the ground, a fit of delirious laughter quickly following. Giggling through the entire process of gathering her feet once more under her unsteady body she moved off. Each minute gathered before her and she took a step forwards, her legs weak, before taking her two steps backwards.
”Hey, elevator, why you running away from me?” The words were a slur, past giggles, fits of giggles that tore themselves past arched lips. The elevator doors opened to reveal Eye Saw. Opal paused, the world swaying, Eye Saw danced, splitting into five different figures that were suddenly spinning in every direction. She smiled, another giggle slipping sat her lip.
Drawing the bottle of alcohol in front of her she offered it to the boy. ”Have a drink with the famous Opal Shore. I’ll give yah… yah… yah! Some lufe savin’ advice.” She leans against the wall, before sliding down it. The bottle remains outstretched, and she pats the ground beside her.
