Fight [ani dorst + ari newton vs aidin Grasswood]

I finally found Anni after trying and failing to kill the girl from two. I was just doing what needed to be done to survive, is that such a bad thing? But I'll never forget the look on her face as I threw my shuriken at her and the spinning death blade cut right through her neck, and she still lived as what looked like a river of red flow down her neck and soak up in her white gi, and then out of nowhere more people attacked her and then she was dead, she was dead and I helped kill her, and after that I walked away from the crime scene, I didn't want to look at the corpse any more, it made me feel sick.

I found Anni and was a bit disappointed to find she only had a weapon from the cornucopia. So that means I have basically all of the items needed for our survival which I will admit, it's a lot of pressure. The darkness began to swallow the arena and I just felt an overwhelming sense of exhaustion weighing my body down so we stayed there, and just when I felt like dozing off into sleep the anthem blared throughout the arena, but I notice there is a second sound playing along with it. I have no idea where it's coming from but I must focus on the faces in the sky.

First I see the boy from three's face flash proudly in the sky, and I hate to say it but I'm just not sorry that he's gone, he was Anni's district partner but I didn't even talk to him or pay attention to him at all, I don't even remember his training score very much either. A nobody. I must seem like such an ass hole right now. And then his face is replaced with the face of Thistle Cardo from ten who I once again never even talked to, and honestly better him than me but I'd never say that out loud. And then his face fades away, never to be seen by me again and is replaced with the face of Luke Davis from eight who's no better than the other two fallen tributes. And then Mary Ellen Goulding from twelve is shown, the girl who got a nine and as shameful as it is a flutter of relief floods my chest because now I don't have to worry about her and that scary training score later. And then to my surprise another career shows up! Mizar from four, her district displayed proudly before her face and I find that quite hard to believe, two careers dead on day one, and of course district two's face, Hannah. Who I saw and helped kill.

After the anthem plays its final strands I finally find myself dozing off in a broken sleep.

I'm slowly awoken by the bright light of the sun in my face and me and Anni find ourselves travelling and then I stop feeling soil under my feet and begin to feed soft sand under my feet. Along with the strong smell of salt water. And I see the fast ocean before me and I can't help but admire it because I have never seen such a large body of water. Is this some sort of beach? And when I look closer at the water I actually see a few islands.

Do they actually intend for us to swim?

....

I can't swim.

Well shit.

I simply continue observing the ocean and how exactly we're going to get to the islands but then my thinking is cut short when I hear a grunt and feel an explosion of pain across my cheek and I fall forwards on my knees with a surprised grunt. What feels like a mini-river of blood flows down my cheek and onto my chin and drips down onto my gi, once again, more red, more red, more red. Why won't the red stop? I spin around to see who did it and I see a dirty boy, probably years older than me and bigger than me holding a bloodied knife. I raise a shaking hand to the wound and tap it but I am only met with another barrage of pain shooting through the wound.

And that is all that's needed to change my quivering fear into a storm of rage. As Anni swings her weapon at him (and fucking misses) I pull out my shurikens and my jar of tar that was sponsored to me yesterday. I shakily fumble with the container, open the lid and hastily begin dipping shurikens in it but I know that if I take too long I'll end up with worse than a gash on my cheek. But luckily for me I manage to get a few of them alight and the flames dancing across my weapons.

"Oi!" I call out and my shaking hands raise the shuriken that now has a deadly flame coating it. The flames lash out at the air, desperately looking for an enemy and for something to burn. The flames lick the air around me and endlessly burn like the rage I feel towards this guy for trying to kill me, I can get him, h-he attacked us. "Why don't you pick on somebody your own size!" I growl and throw the flaming shuriken towards him. Please don't miss. And with hopeful eyes I watch the shuriken fly, the flames dangerously hissing and lashing out as it makes it's lethal journey towards him.

CLANG!

My shuriken sinks into his shield and it cracks, but still no damage dealt to Aidin himself. No! my fists thump on the ground and I can already tell the frustration is getting to me, the despair is already washing over me like a wave. This is starting to look hopeless. That stupid shield needs to go.

I stand up steady and strong, my hopes and confidence rejuvenated by the shield shards that now lay scattered in the sand along Aidin's feet. The shuriken that burns brightly and proudly in my hand is burning me slightly but I don't care, I can get him! But then Aidin swings his knife at me but I'm on my toes this time, this time I'm ready. So I life my shuriken and the knife clashes violently with it, sending sparks and flames everywhere. "Leave me alone!"/font] I growl and manage to push him back, and this creates the opening.

Anni sees this opening and bravely rushes in, but with that big weapon of hers she might hit me by accident so with a help I jump back, onto my back and the weapons collides with Aidin's chest, sending crimson droplets flying away from his body like miniature red planes and stain the sand with red dots.

Things are starting to look up, and as cruel and bad as it sounds I'm quite happy it's him being brutally beaten and not me. I quickly grab a shuriken before he can do any more damage to me and with a flick of my wrists I send the flaming shurien of death spinning towards him once again. The shurikens proceeds to tear yet another gash on his chest, and the blood sprays out like crimson raindrops, making poka dot spots on the sand around me. More red, more red, I've seen so much red today.

The red floods my mind like a river and the sickly smell of blood clouds my brain. I slowly crawl away from him, trying to keep my distance. There's so much red! The red is overwhelming but I must fight through it, it may be overwhelming but that doesn't mean that I will be overwhelmed. I can do this, I can do this. Use the red to fuel me, fuel my desire for survival. The red is not my enemy, the red will help me.
