The last few days, I've spent fighting along side these people, getting to know them, learning their weaknesses, their strengths, anything I need to know about them, so I could eventually use it to my advantage. Argo, he's amazing. I love watching him fight, he's almost as strong as me. I don't even know if the man has any weaknesses. Once he fights, Argo seems invincible. Watching him fight last fight was amazing, the way he wielded that glaive slicing it through the air. The two of us could go far. I can see us going all the way to the end, us two. Then, we could see who was the strongest of them all. Would it be Argo from district one, or myself, Ares, from district two? Only time could tell.
That night, only one face appeared in the sky as the anthem played, Magenta, the girl from my alliance. I fought against them with all my strength, but again, someone else I was unable to save. She was just a shield anyway. I didn't need her for anything, but Argo was close to her, and it kind of hurts to see him hurting as he came out of the fight bloody and beaten too. It's my only hope nobody finds us in the night, but if they do, they should know I'm prepared. I'll kill every last one of them without asking any questions. It's what I've been trained for. Seeing someone die in front of me even if that person wasn't close to me absolutely stings. I should have been able to save that girl, but yet again another ally dies in front of me.
I slowly lower myself towards the ground as I stare at the sky. The stars twinkling high in the sky allows a sign that some hope is actually existing, life outside the arena still goes on as we fight for our survival here. I raise the sword towards my face before examining it. I run the blade into the ground clearing it of any blood left upon it. Despite severing a shoulder off, I still feel like the katana isn't cooperating as it should be. It seems to resist me whenever I try to swing with it. This will be a problem if this continues. I lay down on the sand and place the sword on my lap with a hand clenched around it. Any sign of movement, I'll be ready to attack. I look around at Argo, then Francesca before I finally drift off into sleep.
My cousin, Hannah, stands before me as she ran back into the mess striking Henry. We're alone for a few moments, and all I can do is stare at her. No words escaped my lips when I watched a group of people run in and start attacking her. It all happened so fast. I fought against the vines wanting to save her, but I was trapped. One by one they attacked her slicing her into bits as blood poured from her skin. Everything slows down. I want to save her, but the boy from nine threw an axe her. It sliced into her back and she fell towards the ground lifeless. What just happened? My cousin died right in front of me and I couldn't even do a damn thing to save her. Here she is trying to help save my life and bam! It all happened so quickly.
It's the quell, and Beatrice was reaped. I watched her journey throughout the arena with her pathetic alliance, but they somehow fought well. It was day four in the arena. She was fighting the same group she fought the day before. The girl from three picked up the sword and swung full force at her, and I knew from the momentum, and the force of the swing it wasn't going to be good. The sword swung through her head severing it from her body. The whole world stood still before in slow motion her head fell towards the ground before the rest of her body collapsed. Her life gone in a matter of seconds. My cousin Beatrice dead. Avenged by that boy from three who slew his own district partner in a fit of rage.
Cassius was reaped for the sixty-third games. His journey didn't last long. The morning of the bloodbath he was brave and ran in. He was doing so well attacking people, gathering the items he needed to survive. It all changed when people turned against him and started mauling him. One by one they hit him over and over and over again. The sliced through his skin, they broke his bones. He tried to run away, but they wouldn't let him. I watched as the knife drove into his skin. He didn't make it far, but was my cousin. He didn't deserve to die. He deserved so much better as I stare at the lifeless body on the ground. I should have volunteered during those games to save him. Cassius deserved to live. Instead his life had been cut short.
My body jumps from the ground as I sit straight up. My breathing labored as I look around figuring out what's going on. I place my hand on my chest forcing myself to calm down, but it's hard to calm down. My cousins are dead, and nothing will bring them back. I look around and I see Francesca, but there's no sign of Argo. My eyes flash around the area, but he's gone. All his items are gone, everything. Anger surges through my veins. The boy I've been fighting along side with is gone. He left us alone. He's betrayed us, and betrayal isn't easily forgiven. And to think, I wanted to go all the way with him. Fighting side by side with him should have forged a bond between us. Well Argo doesn't appear to care at all. Ripred help him if I ever run into him.
I throw all my items into my bag before moving on not caring if this girl from one follows me. I move through the area wielding my sword prepared to slice anyone down. My eyes flash around the area making sure nobody steps into my way. Perhaps I could find Argo, and end his life. He's deserving of death since he betrayed us. I keep moving through the arena looking for someone, or something to attack. It would be nice to kill someone today. Ending the life of another worthless tribute standing in my way of total victory. I see something moving in front of me, and a large grin laced with malice appears on my face as I charge prepared to strike. Time for someone or something to feel my wrath.
