B E N T L E Y K E A D E R Rule number one: Don’t let anyone distract you from the task at hand. I still don’t have a title for my book—only the chapters and subheadings for each. It’s the only thing that’s been on my mind lately, and it’s taken quite a bit away from my normal day-to-day tasks. My parents have been calling it a “distracting phase” or “bits of boredom” but they don’t know the half of it. They don’t understand that this is what I’ve decided to do, to show kids like myself that the adults that stomp around on us like ants don’t really rule the world. It’s because of my parents’ negative words that I’ve fled the house in the midafternoon, no actual destination in my mind as absentmindedly put one foot in front of the other. At least it’s not deathly cold anymore. I guess that’s really the only positive side I can think of at this point. Let’s think about this: my parents think I’m some dysfunctional kid that has the attention span of a goldfish, I’ve got basically no friends, and I’m hitting this point where I don’t even know what to say. The fact that fluffy white crap isn’t covering the ground anymore is just about the best thing I can think of. It’s still cold, however, so I guess it isn’t even completely positive. It’s times like this that I almost wish I had a close friend that I could vent to about anything that crossed my mind. But I don’t, and it doesn’t look like I will anytime soon. So for now, I’ll just have to talk to myself and remind myself that there are bigger things at hand rather than the weather or the many faces that pass me by. template by chelsey |
