First impressions often leave their viewer with a false perspective. Looks can deceive and evil can be masked in the chubby face of an "innocent" eleven year old. Perhaps it is the meek demeanor I have chosen, or my ever-constant silence, but it seems that almost nobody gets my character right the first time around. People have a high opinion of me, but how can they? They know what family I come from.

The Birches are cursed. Everyone knows that. Four of us chosen for the ultimate honor in three years. Born to die but destined for glory.

They underestimate me. They think because I'm young and quiet (too quiet, but I haven't mastered the art of spoken word yet in this life), I cannot hurt them.

Nobody understands me because I refuse to let them in. Some say the greatest minds are the quietest people. I think I agree, but nobody has ever bothered to ask my opinion. They think I'm dumb. I can't speak, so I must be stupid. They laugh at me. Mock me.

They do not possess the focus that silence brings. They cannot simply be, they are too distracted.

But I can be. I can be everything they are not. 

They underestimate me... but I will prove them wrong.
