Name: Blake Darcy Rayne
Age: 13
Gender: Female
District: 6
Appearance: I’m a young girl but, as far as I’m concerned, I’m still small for my age. I seem somehow taller than I am because of my extremely upright posture; I’m four feet and eight inches tall (most of that is my long legs) and I weight about ninety pounds. My long legs make for good running, so when I’m in a hurry to get somewhere, I’ll be gliding through the air gracefully with my toes hitting the ground rhythmically only to keep me sailing across the district. They also come in handy in water, making me a pretty fast swimmer.
My small round face is framed by wild-wavy, straw-colored hair that barely passes my chin. If I could dye my hair, it would be a beautiful jet black. That would be a million times better than the dirty, matted mess that I usually hide beneath a knit hat.
I really like my pale green eyes, not because of the color, and not because of how observant they are, but because they’re just like my mom’s. I also like my smile because I have straight, white teeth and dimples.
An accident when I was younger slashed my right hand open, forcing me to learn to use my left hand to do everything. The wound healed, but left a huge scar, a grossly pink raised line of skin, across my palm and part of my wrist. Luckily, my long, slender fingers avoided the injury. Even though I’ve regained the ability to use my right hand, it’s never worked as good as it used to.
I like to wear dresses, particularly blue and green ones. Since the only dresses we can afford are hand-me-downs from Zarina and Alynia, they’re usually too short and barely make it past my knees. I guess that’s okay, though, because I’m usually wearing a pair of pants underneath so I can climb trees and stuff.
Personality: Honestly, I do try to be a good kid, really. It’s just so hard when there are a million things that I can do that are “wrong” and only a few that are “right”. Making a mess of things is just my way of trying to be free, even though I know that that’s impossible. If I’m thirteen and I can figure out that freedom is a lost cause, it probably is. If I could have chosen to be born into a career district, I would have. Even so, I cause a lot of trouble in my district. Well, not any major trouble, but I guess I annoy a lot of the adults and older kids from six. I’ve swiped things from markets before, too, but I haven’t gotten caught yet.
I really like to make things, too. I’m very artsy in that sense. I don’t paint or draw or play music like my older siblings, but I can build pretty much anything that I set my mind to, even when I don’t have a lot of supplies to work with.
I’m a good friend, or at least I try to be. I love my friends and always want to make them happy—except when I’m trying to mess with them. I listen a lot more than I talk, and a lot of people assume that I’m just too shy. Basically it’s because I’d rather hear what information other people are giving out than give them information of my own.
History: My father died when I was really little. I don’t really remember him, but from what my older siblings tell me, he was a good guy. I wish I’d known him.
After he passed away, my uncle Jesse (mom’s brother) moved in to help take care of us kids. We must have all been a handful back then, but Zarina and Alynia have grown out of it now that they’re practically adults. In fact, they’re both engaged. My mother used to always be after me to be more “ladylike”, but I really don’t like most girly things. After years of begging and demanding and failing, she finally gave up and let me act out boyishly when I please.
Mom hasn’t worked since I was ten, when she was hit by a derailed train. That ultimately resulted in her being paralyzed from the hips down.
Uncle Jesse is a mechanic. A lot of times I’ll go with him to work. At first I didn’t like it because it’s a greasy, smelly job and most of the workers are men and boys older than me. We eventually started getting along, though, and now the mechanics are some of my best friends.
I like Zarina’s fiancé Ash. He’s pretty cool and he’s always fun to be around. I’m not crazy about Gaaron, who’s engaged to Alynia, though. I don’t have anything against him, but he’s always so quiet that I feel like my sister is going to marry a total stranger. He barely says two words during dinner, so how can she know what he’s like?

OOC: Hi, I’m CM. I’m new, so I’m not really sure if I’ve got this right. If anything needs to be updated, I’ll be glad to get on it right away. Even though I’ll probably be figuring out how to navigate this site for a while, it looks awesome and I can’t wait to start roleplaying!
