Orion Starcrest Distrct 3

    Orion was born into a life of severe poverty and it is all he has ever known. Both his mother, Renee, and his father, Jupiter, were born and raised in poverty and hence they both worked as factory workers, and the lowest of the factory workers at that. They have always tried to give Orion and his siblings the best lives they could, however, the only thing in abundance in this family is a strong bond of love. Orion is the youngest of four in his family. He has two older brothers and one slightly older sister, who is by far his best friend in the world. Ever since they were younger Orion and his sister have been thick as thieves since they have both been very shy. They are so close that one day when he was six and she was seven she spent the little money she had on buying him an old wore down leather journal with all blank pages. Orion loved the gift with all his heart and still uses the journal today since he always carries it with him.

    Even though life was rough life was manageable for Orion since he had such a loving family, however, when he was eight years old the world just became a little too unbearable. His mother who had always cared very deeply for Orion since he was the baby of the family died from a disease that killed her within three days. Orion was devastated and his father knew that so he did something for Orion that was shocking. He took all the money he had saved and went to a jeweler where he bought a silver medallion necklace in which he put a picture of Renee in it. Then on the day of Orion's ninth birthday while tucking him into his small bed he gave him the medallion and Orion wept tears of joy until he fell asleep from exhaustion. Ever since that day he always wears the medallion so his mother can always be with him.

    Throughout his life Orion has developed exactly three hobbies: inventing, sketching, and exercising. His hobbies of inventing and sketching sort of go hand in hand since all he sketches are pictures of machines he has seen from watching and building certain machines. Also he sketches his own designs for types of machines and their prototypes. His inventing, however, is by far his favorite hobby of all. He gathers parts he finds anywhere from on the streets to dumpsters, and even on occasion he will steal several parts from the factory he works at and so far no one has caught him. His favorite invention is his automatic cleaner, you simply slip a switch on a remote and a small little bug looking robot goes around dusting and cleaning the entire house. However, he has also had many inventing failures one being an automatic stamping machine which shot a gear at Orion giving him the small scar on his face. Lastly, the reason he exercises is that it makes him feel like he isn't in the world he actually is and that everything is fine in the world. His favorite exercise is running, he is one of the fastest kids in the district due to the fact he runs so often since he always does it when he is upset.

    Last of all, is how the Hunger Games have affected his life. So far luckily he hasn't had anyone close to him reaped so it hasn't directly harmed him. However, he knows that if someday he were to get reaped he would be going to that arena since he doesn't have anyone who would volunteer for him. Not even his brothers since they are both very self concerned. So as for now Orion stays nervous and uneasy terrified that one day it could be his name that is drawn from the glass ball for the boys of District three.
