Question about Victors

In general Gamemakers try to make it so that if a past victor player is getting close to winning, they run into some trouble (i.e. a mutt, or a difficult mandated fight) that'll really screw with their chances. In the past, though, many victor players have been responsible enough to recognize that they're getting close to the end, and arrange themselves a death so that they won't prevent other people from winning. Currently, we don't allow suicide (that got waaaay too out of hand in past Games, which is the reason for that rule, though maybe we'll change that back soon) but there are plenty of different ways other than that.

I've had a handful of tributes since I won the 56th; two of them made it pretty far, and I had one collapse in her 1v1 fight the day before the finale and decide she just didn't have the strength to hold on anymore, and the other made it to a 4-way finale which I had her botch as well. There are an infinite number of ways for a victor player to die; winning is certainly much harder. We hope that our victor players remember how exciting it was to win and understand that it's important for more people to have that experience too, so we trust that when the time comes, they'll know, and let their tribute die. The alternative is not allowing them to play at all, which would obviously suck. Hope this answers your question!
