Name: Sefora Rivalee O’sett
Age: 15
Gender: Female
District: 4
Appearance:
Sefora has dull, pale brown hair that’s pretty much one solid color all the way through. She doesn’t like long hair, it gets in the way, so she keeps it as short as her mother will allow, which is a little past her shoulders. It is mostly straight, but curls up at the bottom into little spirals. Usually Sefora wears her hair up in a ponytail to keep it even more out of the way, which is then tied with a blue ribbon. Her hair gets tangled in knots constantly and is always sticking up somewhere, especially when she wakes up in the morning. It’s not terribly pretty or shiny hair, in fact Sefora has to take a long shower with lots of soap, and then brush it for an hour before it will look nice.
Sefora has pale blue eyes. They’re very pretty and Sefora is quite proud of them. Neither her mother nor father have blue eyes like her and is a bit of a mystery how that happened. Her father thinks he had a great, maybe great grandfather who had blue eyes, but he never knew him and doesn’t know for sure. Sefora’s eyes are the type that is you stare at them you can easily get lost in them; she’s caught several people staring at her before, mostly people she just met and look over to say hi, but when making eye contact seem to get stuck in her gaze.
Sefora has pale skin, but it’s not really that pale. Whenever she’s out in the sun, which is constantly, she never gets burned, just tanned. She’s never been sunburned in her life. She has nearly perfect complexion, almost never getting any pimples; at the age of fifteen she can only count twelve pimples that were big enough to notice. These two facts are ones Sefora is happy with, she thinks she would be perfectly fine without them, but it’s better to have these advantages then to not in her opinion.
Sefora is tiny and skinny. In fact she’s so short that people have mistaken her for a kid two years younger than herself, which makes her so mad. She hates being short, it’s the only thing she’d bother to change about herself if she could, it’s incredibly annoying. There are a few 13 year old's taller than her!
Sefora wears dresses, constantly. Her mother forces her into them, whenever she tries to put something sensible on her mother suggest quietly that she should go put on the dress she laid out for her daughter, and if Sefora says no her mother goes on a big long rant about this and that, which Sefora never listens to, that always ends up with her mother going upstairs and throwing out all her shirts and pants. To get around this problem, because she can’t stand dresses, Sefora puts on a pair of pants and a shirt, then overtop she wears whatever dress her mother laid out for the day. Sefora walks to school, so when she leaves the street she lives on she pulls off her dress, stuffs it in her bag and wears the clothes underneath so her mom won’t know. So far she hasn’t figured it out yet.
Personality:
Sefora’s a quiet person, she’s not silent, but she’s quiet. She’d also very respectful, if you’re talking, she will listen (well she’ll at least look like she’s listening, it depends on how long you talk.) She keeps her mouth shut and her opinions to herself, which sometimes causes her to miss out on opportunities, yet at the same time keep her from ever snapping back at people. Sefora does tend not to think through situations, often acting on the first thought that pops into her mind, which isn’t usually the best one.
She's really good at remembering things, especially names. If she heard someones name maybe two or three times she could probably pick them out of a crowd. She could probably also name most of the fish species in all of district four. During school she hangs out mostly with other girls, though they aren't much more than just people she sits with at lunch. She's better in situations with less people, the more people the less she'll interact.
Her sentences are usually short and to the point, so there probably won't be much of a cushioning to anything she might have to tell someone. She would rather not hurt anyone if she didn't have to, either emotionally or physically. Sefora will roll her eyes often because she'd unlikely to snap back at anything, she would most likely just think it. If you made fun of her for anything she'd probably just glare at you and walk away. Most of the time she would just shrug it off.
Truthfully she's never really bothered to think about what its like in the other districts or the capital, she's not quite naive enough to think that everywhere is like here, she just doesn't care. She's also never thought to hard about the hunger games, it just disgusts her really. Not much more than that, it just happens, it always has. Besides, even if she did happen to get picked, there are enough careers in her district that certainly one of them would volunteer for her.
History:
Just like everyone else who was born into a district, Sefora has never left. Why would she want to? The world is a cold, hard place and Sefora’s life is fine. Her father is the captain of a fishing boat and she wishes she could do that when she’s older, but as a girl she’ll probably end up making nets, which isn’t the end of the world for her, but still not ideal. She’s not the richest person in the district, but you could call her above average. She lives with her mother and her father as an only child. Sefora never wanted to leave the district, even if she could live someplace better, she loves the ocean and no one else has that.
Sefora loves both her parents; she just loves her father more. He understands her in a way her mother never does. Her mother thinks that her daughter will be just like herself, but Sefora is not, not even close. Her mother loves to wear dresses, cook, and have proper grammar. Sefora hates all these things. All the things women are traditionally supposed to do, she hates; with the exception of sewing, which she secretly enjoys. She would rather swim, fish, or maybe just sit somewhere, by herself.
As a child Sefora was popular, she knew everyone and was invited to everything. She wore pink dresses and life was great. But everyone grows up, and as Sefora grew older she switched to just four or five school friends that she would talk with and maybe walk home from school with. She started to wear more blues and gradually talk less. She spent more time sitting by the sea then bothering about her social life, preferring to wander than be what everyone seemed to think she should be.
