    "Get out of my sight!" My father hissed at me followed my a hard right cross against my cheek. Although pain now seared my cheek I did not fall down and I did not show any emotion. My fists are clenched so tightly that I am sure no air would be able to be inside of them. My father storms away to his office and once he is gone I curse at him, "Asshole!" Anger is welling up inside me as the seconds go by and suddenly I can't contain it anymore. I kick the wall next to me with tremendous force causing it to dent as well as causing my foot to flare in rage at me. "Damn it!" I mutter under my breath. However, its not the pain in my cheek or foot that bothering me, its my piece of crap father.

    He has been this asshole my entire life and I am sick of him! He wonders why I get into trouble and why I can't stand him, well maybe if he opened his stubborn eyes he would realize it! I am starting to shake with rage and I know I just have to get out and away from him for awhile. I scurry up to my room and retrieve a handful of money from a small bag under my bed. I stuff the money in my pocket then rush down stairs and out the front door.

    My brother and sisters are kicking a ball around in the field when they see me. Marcia calls for me to join them but I shake my head and give her a stern look. She knows the look, it means I am pissed and need to be left alone. She luckily respects it and returns to playing with the others.I keep walking until I reach the wooden fence marking the end of our massive plot of land. I hop the fence with ease, however, right when I am about to go down into the district I hear a yell. I turn my head and see one of my dad's sentries rushing towards me. I roll my eyes, this is just going to be a waste of time, he will start of by saying I'm not permitted to leave and I never am but I will just bride him with the money I brought anyway.

    "Travis! You and I are both aware of the rules of this ranch. You are under no circumstances allowed to leave unless its Reaping day. But that isn't until several weeks, so I demand you return home now before I contact your parents." I snort, this is what happens ever time I just reach in my pocket and reveal the money. "This is all yours if you let me go and don't tell anyone, deal?" I say calmly and based on the guy's wide excited eyes and nod of his head he accepts. I give him the money then say before I continue going into the district, "Pleasure doing business with ya."

    My spirits begin to lift the further I get away from my ranch, no, my prison. I even begin to start running as excitement courses through my body. I don't stop running until I reach a small stream where I see two horses drinking. They are beautiful both large chocolate brown colored and I can't resist getting closer. I slowly edge my way closer and closer until I am literally right next to one. I then reach out my hand and pet one, it neighs slightly but doesn't move so I continue to pet it softly smiling as I do.

"Aria honey.. Would you mind maybe.. Maybe helping out at the butchery today?" I knew my father hated asking me that particular question, mostly because he know how much I hated being there. I didn't blame him for it. He had six children and himself to feed, each and every day. Since the animals didn't seemed lie they were going to start butcher themselves, he needed all the help he could get. I never quite gotten used to the butchery. The brutality of the work I didn't mind that bad any longer. I could hear the animals scream as they suffered without raising an eyebrow. It was something about the smell of corpse, even though they were just animals it sort of bothered me. A feeling of this comfort kept growing on me from the second I entered the butchery, to the second i finally could break loose. I could catch myself even enjoying the actual butchering at times. It's horrible at times, seeing what you yourself are capable of. I never enjoyed the blood or the screams, but the temptation of having such a huge amout of power could sometimes feel attractive.

I snapped out of my little daydream, and stared right into my fathers green eyes that reminded so much of my own. I had been silent for a while to long, that would for sure make him feel guilty. That was the last thing I wanted, so I tried covering it up smoothly. "Oh yeah of course! I haven't been there for a while, feels good to be productive. I'll stop by as soon as I'm done here" He turned around and pulled me into his arms. My little play didn't fool anybody, it usually didn't. "I'm so sorry, my little apple, that I have to ask you for this" I hated it when his voice got all that soft and gentle, as if I was made of glass. It made me feel even more horrible about hating helping him so much. I just smiled and broke loose from his grip. "Don't be silly now father, I don't mind. I'll come by as I told you" He nodded before leaving the house. He had never been as loving as caring for any of my siblings as he always seems to be with me. Somewhere in his mind, I think that he always had to defend me from my mothers cruel outbursts meant that we grew a stronger realtionship. He's always been my hero and the greatest person in my life. I think his love as given me the strength to do the same for my siblings, although my brothers didn't share the same love for affection as I did. Everytime I told them something nice, they just gave me a rude comment back.

The walk down to the butchery takes about five minutes. I usually run though, I don't know why I just always done it that way. As I entered the butchery, the regular smell of the flesh and blood caught up with me. I couldn't help it but wrinkle my nose in sudden disgust. A fat man standing by the counter laughed happily. "Goodday Jack" I nodded politely towards him, just because I knew I had to. "Oh, the lovely little miss Aria, I can't believe you never, and I mean NEVER get used to the smell." He continued on laughing while rubbing his fat belly. I never liked him, and this time I mean NEVER. He paid my father a way to small salary and tend to be extremely rude towards me. "Can you get down to the Graeson farm? I need you to pick up a few cows for me. You can use Belle" The only good thing about Jack, the fat man from the butchery was her, Belle, his beautiful horse. He lets me ride her if i got anything important errand or drive cattle. I always loved horses, they are so graceful somehow. After getting her ready, I swinged my leg over her saddle and sat down with a soft bump. It only took a few minutes getting down to the Ranch, but when I got there, I didn't seem to find anyone.

    I stay by the stream with the horses for a while but eventually all good things must come to an end. I was quite sad at the thought of leaving this place. It was always so peaceful and so nice to get away from that hell of a ranch. With one last pat on the horse's head I departed my little paradise and began my trek home. I wasn't too far out, probably just about a mile away, however I bore easily so I take out my long whip. I have had this whip since I was nine and I love it, its one of the only bright sides to having as much wealth as we do. Most of the time I pray that I can wake up and that it will all just go away, but I know that will never happen.

    As I reach the fence guarding my oh so beloved ranch I turn and take one last long look at the district. I wish I could just stay out there and live on my own. I probably could too, survive off of meat from stray animals, it wouldn't be the best life but at least I wouldn't be abused. My hand tightens around the stem of the whip as I think about my father again and I crack the whip hard against the fence leaving behind an awful scar. I force myself to take slow long breaths to calm myself down before I hop the fence back into dictatorsvill.

     I walk along the main entrance dirt trail to the ranch house. That really isn't a house more of a really big wooden manor that happens to be called a ranch. I continue to crack the whip as I walk slowly down the trail, I know for sure I am in no rush to get back inside. Up ahead I hear the slight sound of a neigh and my eyes brows furrow in confusion. We always keep the horses in the stables, maybe one got out? I pick up my pace to a slight jog until I round the corner and see a girl ontop of a majestic horse. Horses have always been my favorite animals, they are so beautiful and free spirited. In fact, some times I wish I could be a horse running all day and night on the open fields.

    I sigh at the loveliness of my daydream but shake my head as I jump back to reality. I adjust the red bandanna around my head and wrap the whip around my right shoulder. I then approach the horse and gal steadily so I don't spook the amazing animals. When I am finally right beside them both I speak up, "Is there somethin I can help you with? You look as lost as a roach durin the heated season." The girl partially looks surprised to see me and who can blame her, no one knows that Mr. Money Bags Graeson has any kids.

    As I get a nice long look at her I finally am able to realize who she is. I have seen her once during one of the times I ran out of the ranch lookin for adventure. She was working for one of the butchers which partially disgusts me the thought of killing innocent animals but I let it slide. What I really am caught up on is trying to figure out her name. My feet shuffle as I think hard and I stratch my head then it pops into my head, Aria. Yes that was her name I am sure of it, then another thing hits me, she is here to pick up the two cows we have scheaduled for slaughter.

    "Oh wait a second Aria, you're here for the cows bound for the slaughter house ain't ya?" I ask her causally as I unravel my whip from my shoulder. I then run the whip gently through my hands feeling its course yet oddly smooth texture. I know for sure I wouldn't ever want to get hit by this thang and that's that.

I let my hand carefully slide along the neck of the young horse brown fur. She started pacing a bit back and forth. As she felt my touch, she calmed down a bit. I let my gaze search the area, I'd been here before, probably picking up some of Mr Graesons cattle. The ranch was beautiful. I had always envied those children who got to grew up on the farms and ranches. They are always so gracious, so breath takingly beautiful. I couldn't even imagine it, living on this beautiful ranch with my family. I wished I could picture it, having my little siblings run around there, with the grass touching their feet and the sun kissing their chubby little baby cheeks. I'd be in the stable, taking care of our many beautiful, magical horses. I'd be one of those girls who always wear cowboy hats and barely ever walks. Maybe I could imagine it after all.

I still remember the first time I cut the a horse throat, it was an old mare, with big black beautiful eyes. It was my first day working at the butchery, the first time I worked there for real. I had only been cutting the already slaughtered meat before. I cried while doing it, my father cried even worse - but Jack, he just laughed. She wasn't concious, but I had seen her beautiful black eyes a couple of hours before. The image haunted me for weeks to come. I spent most of the time in bed for a few days after that, just thinking of her being dead because of me. Although it seemed impossible, I knew that sooner or later, I just had to get myself together, get my butt down to the butchery and clinch on as hardly as I can to the little moral I've got left.

A boy suddenly appeared just a few meters away from me. I just stared at him for a few seconds. Maybe he was a stableboy? I was pretty sure Mr Graeson didn't have any children. When I thought about it, I actually had no idea. I just guessed he didn't, but he probably did, living on the farm. Having children was very important, for when you are grey and old in District 10, you need your children to provide for you. He wouldn't want to leave this beautiful ranch without a heir. After closer consideration, he probably had children. "Oh wait a second Aria, you're here for the cows bound for the slaughter house ain't ya" I swinged my leg over the saddle and landed with both feet on the ground. Carefully, I pulled the reins over the horses head and carefully inspected the boy. "Yes I am." My answer was short and straight forward. I didn't mean to sound rude, but I often came of that way. In general, I'm not a big fan of making small talk. I'm actually suprisingly bad at it, it won't serve either of us any good trying.

    I laugh at her response "Very straight forward I can see. Aight follow me I'll take ya to them." I finally put my whip away then begin walking towards the grazing area where the cows are. Thoughts about this girl swim through my head, I couldn't figure out why I just liked her in away. I mean I can respect a straight forward person, why waste time talking about things that don't matter? Or maybe is it how pretty she is? I wasn't going to dare say anything but that was the first thing I noticed about her. Maybe I should tell her.. no I can't that would just be weird making everything awkward and I am not looking to make that happen.

    It's not until I am halfway to the grazing fields I realize how stupidly I am smiling as I think of her. I need to pull myself together, I just met this girl for petesake! Perhaps its the fact that my father keeps me locked up in here that I'm acting this way to the first girl I have met outside of my family. My cheeks turn red as I conceal my smile and walk into the grazing pastures. It takes me several moments to spot the two big cows but once I do I walk right over to them.

    Once there I reign them up so she can lead them to the butchery. I have to look away from their eyes because it gives me a pang of guilt. They never wanted any of this, they honestly don't even deserve to die, my father is just selling them to the butcher because they are infertile. My jaw and hands clentch in anger at my father again but I force myself to calm down due to the sake of my company. Once calm I stand and turn towards her, "Aight they are all ready to go, just make sure to lead em or else they will wander off. However, I am sure you already know that don cha."

"Yeah I'm not really famous for being the nicest person around" She said, with that typical stoneface she always had. She followed him, while Belle happily followed her. It must be horrible, being a cow. They were so unaware of what they were even living for. They exsister just to be slaughtered. A little like how the capitol saw us District kids. The only difference was probably that we were prepared. We knew we were just flesh and meat to them, ready to be wasted. These cows had no idea, but maybe it was better that way. They could live happily until the day they were brought to the slaughtery. They were happy until the day I came along. I prefered collecting the cattle rather than butchering them, so for me this was a good day.

I carelessly threw my hair up in a big bun on the top of my head and took a good look at the boy. How come I never seen him before? I didn't take to big notice to the other kids at school, but at least recognized them while seeing them out of school. "Hey are you homeschooled?" I spitted out. It was a step forward, I actually found something interesting in terms of meeting a stranger. I made small-talk. I felt proud of myself. What a productive day. Babysteps, as my one year younger brother always told me. He went on and on about how I needed to work on my social skills, so I could one day meet a proper man who's children i should give birth to. Why would I want to do that, one may wonder. My brother had a theory about that too, that I needed somebody to provide for me when I got old and grey. I needed children. This fact was painfully accurate. I didn't want children. Not because I don't like kids, but I don't want them to have to work their asses of or go to the games. This world was no world for children.

"Aight they are all ready to go, just make sure to lead em or else they will wander off. However, I am sure you already know that don cha." He told me. Yeah silly of course I know they're not dogs. I was just about to tell him that, when I figured I wouldn't destroy my own day of productive social contacts, when I finally made some progress. I had to stop being so incredible rude. "You never herd the cattle at this farm?" I asked, trying to change my tone from sounding judgemental to just curious. I wasn't the worst cattle driver but not the best either. I wouldn't want to get into herding them all the way to the butchery if they weren't used to it. I grabbed two pieces of thick and soft rop that Jack always kept in Belles saddlebag just in case and started knitting it around the cows heads.

    She asks if I am home schooled and I see she has figured out I must be his son. It makes me want to punch something, saying I am the son of the devil Cyrus who is my father. However, I force myself to not focus on that but her question, I nod then say politely "Yes I am, my father prefers it that way." If she didn't know I was his son already she sure as hell knows now. It's a shame really that I child should have to feel so disgraced by his family name. All because of the awful actions of one single individual or really two if you want to include my drunken mother.

    As I finish preparing the cows for their short journey my mind drifts to my mother. She isn't abusive or cruel in anyway, she is just a complete drunk. However, even through the alcohol I can see she genuinely cares for us. She even proves it every year by sobering up around Reaping time in case anything happens to her children, to me. I feel my throat begin to tighten up and tears begin to rim my eyes. I can't cry in front of Aria, I just met her I can't leave such a weak bad impression about me on her. So I force the thoughts of my mom out of my head then turn my attention fully back to Aria once again.

   You never herd the cattle at this farm?" She asks me and I find it a rather obvious answer they are cows after all. "Course we do, I do it on occasion then sometimes Marcia but usually one of the workers handle it." I hope that didn't come across nasty or rude. My intention was just simply to inform her but I know I can be a little brash at times. Damn it, I curse at myself within the domain of my mind. Why do I always have to make things awkward? Part of me wants to blame it all on my dad for keeping me locked up. But I won't allow it, I have to own up to my mistakes and make myself a better person. So when I muster up the courage I say softly to her, "I'm sorry if that came across a little rude, that wasn't my intention at all."

"Wow. Thats weird" Aria answers, as her gaze stray from his eyes and across the lands. "Your probably lucky. School suck" She tried to inform him, since he seemed kind of unsatisfied by the fact. It sounded like such a stereotypical thing to say, that school sucks. But school did indeed suck. Just a bunch of really mean girls giggling, with their enoying macho-guys, for hours. It was exhausting. She had to sigh, just by the thought of even being close to having to go to school. If it stood between school and the butchery, the butchery would even be preferable. "Are you always at the ranch? Like always?" She had to ask, this subject made her so curious, for the first time in ages. She never met anybody that was homeschooled before. She was just about to ask him if he even had friends, when she realized that, that would not even be rude, only mean. She stopped herself before the words had slipped her mouth. "Do you like it here?"

"Course we do, I do it on occasion then sometimes Marcia but usually one of the workers handle it." She just stared at him with an open mouth and a fascinated facial impression. "Woow you have workers? How rich are you guys? THis ranch is huge. Do you own all of it? Is your house super big?" She just couldn't stop all the questions from pouring out of her mouth. She was so surprised with herself, she usually prefered keeping silent. She had been on many ranches and farms before, but she never really asked how they worked. She had always assumed the family were just super busy. He apologized for being rude, and she just grinned. "Oh dear, you don't have to worry about being rude to me. I don't mind. I prefer rude people. By my own experience, they're the more honest ones" Belle pushed her carefully with her big head, as if she told her to hurry, that they were already late. "Who is your teacher?" She asked before signing again. "I'm so sorry I'm just so curious I never met anyone who was homeschooled before" She had to get herself together. "I have to get back to the butchery" She said, trying to hide the disappointment in her voice. She would love to stay and question him further. She had so many questions boiling inside.

    As I open my mouth to answer one of her questions another comes flying at me and I am left completely overwhelmed. My brain was racing, I sure as hell not use to this. The only time I ever have to think this hard is when Mrs. Rocillio comes over to teach us. Which in fact is one of the answers to her thousand questions. "Okay answer number one, do I like being home schooled? Yes and no, I like not having to commute and deal with stereotypical students but I also don't cause I don't get to interact with anyone my age." I take a second to catch my breath between answering her array of questions. I guess having a conversation takes more than one would think. "Second answer, who teaches my siblings and I is Mrs. Rocillio." That just about covers the school portion of her questions however there are still more to answer.

    Her next question slightly surprises me, how rich is my family. I decide to let it go because she says she liked honest rude people and to be truthful so do I. "Well my family is very wealthy because of my father's company. We make fine leathers that we supply to people all over Panem." I grin as I start to get the hang of conversation. "As for how much land we have is we have a huge plot of land, the largest in the district I believe. Also, my house is basically a wooden mansion so it's pretty big." I slide my hands into my pockets and flip my hair slightly so it is out of my eye's view.

    I can't really explain it but I am really enjoying this time with Aria. I don't know if she would consider me her friend but I want her to be mine. I have been alone so long with just my siblings I could use a real friend. I then realize she has asked another question this time its a little more sensitive. She asks if I like it here and do I always have to stay here my lips and hands tighten as I think of what a good answer could be. I even find myself beginning to perspire from anticipation and finally I take a deep breath and answer slowly. "Well, I love the amount of land since I have so many animals but do I like it here..." My voice trails off as I gulp heavily then I finally let it out, "In all honesty, no I hate it here the only reason I stay is to protect my siblings from.." My voice fades again and I quickly cover "Well from what doesn't matter now for your other question do I always have to stay here. Yes I do my father has men who patrol our fences to make sure of that. This place is basically a prison for me and my siblings."

    I let out a big breath, I never realized how hard it would be to admit that to someone. I even feel light headed now after revealing my life to this girl I just met. I hear her say she has to leave and my heart drops down to my feet. I don't want her to go, I don't want her to ever leave. I wish she could stay here with me and that we could talk to one another forever. Yet I know this can never be so instead of sounding disappointed I make myself sound as lacking of emotion I can, however, I am sure my eyes will give my sadness away. "Oh I understand, want me to guide you to the fence?" I ask her but truthfully its just an excuse to try to spend a little more time with her.

"Oh thats horrible" I couldn't help myself, I just stared at his a little bit tortured facial expression. He moved as if the fact really bothered him, which I could see why it would. "So your not allowed to leave?" She asked with a surprised tone, even if that was rather obvious. "I'm sorry you just told me that, it's just so.. special" She said. She wanted to say something that might help, but she just couldn't think of anything that would fit into the conversation. "If it makes you feel any better other families in District 10, including mine is starving. The world outside this fences isn't that worthy looking on to be honest." She knew as fast as she said it that it probably wouldn't help at all. It just sounded like she tried to make him feel bad for even complaining, that wasn't at all what she intended. "It must be horrible, being stuck. I mean, were all stuck here in District 10 but you are stuck for real. So you never see anyone? Thats must be harsh. I hate most people so I guess I wouldn't mind but for normal, social creatures that must be really hard" I wasn't good at this social interaction things. Trying to comfort him made me nervous and saying stupid things.

"Oh I love animals to!" I answered with excitement, eager to change the subject. "I know that sounds weird since I'm a butcher, but honestly I hate it. I have to do it because my siblings will starve otherwise" I informed him, as if I tried to justify my behavoir. Why would I even feel the need to do that? I usuallý didn't act this way. I felt rather excited to talk to him. Maybe it made it easier that he had zero social skill because he been so sheltered away? I also had zero social skills, but that was due to other reasons. Belle started getting restless about now, and I realized how late I was to work. I had to leave.

I grabbed the saddle and pulled myself up as he asked me if i needed guidance to the fence. The look I gave him was probably rather insulting, since I stared at him as if he was stupid. "I'm not retarded, the fence is huge and I entered that way" I told him. I didn't regret being rude this time. It took me a few minutes to realize he was probably just trying to keep me company. He must have realized I could find my way to the fence myself. "What if you help me get this cows down to the butchery? I really have to work. I don't want to get fired do to this delay" She told him, with a nervous tune in her voice

She seems offended at first for me asking if she wanted me to walk her to the fence. My heart starts beating quicker and my palms begin to sweat. I didn't mean in anyway at all to offend her, I just simply wanted to keep her company. However, I think she realizes that when she asks if I would like to help her get the cows to the butchery. I stand there for a moment as if to show I am thinking about it but my mind has already decided. "Aight sure i'll tag along for the convoy, but if we run into my dad's guards best let me do the talkin." Yet again I plead that she doesn't think I am being a jerk I just know how they are like.

Sure enough when we reach the fence one of the guards come running to stop me. However, I notice its the guy I paid earlier so I give him a hard stare. Sure enough once our eyes lock he halts then turns the other direction without looking back. After that the rest of the journey is nice and easy. By the time we get to the butchers I am officially sweating and worn out. "Well here we are." I say to her but its pretty obvious. I look down at my shoes shyly, I don't want to part with her but this seems like the end of the road.

One of the guards take one look at them. My heart started to beat faster, even though I have no idea why. If I were to get caught, nothing could happen to me. I guess I was nervous for Travis sake. The guard didn't seem to care, he just turned his eyes away from them. "Well.. That didn't seem to problematic did it?" She asked, forcing a polite smile against him. Those forced on smile were never her best accesoar, it only made her looked pressured.

As they got down to the butchery, I stopped outside the door. I caught a glance of Jack still standing in the counter, surronded by hundreds and hundreds of different kinds of meat. He spotted her through the window, and he did not look pleased. In pure reflex, I shrugged backwards a bit, he had always scared me, that old grinch. I didn't exactly knew what it was about him. He was rude but not much ruder than her. It was something about his eyes, the way he's gaze always seemed to follow her. In a way that old men shouldn't be looking at fifteen year old girls. She had to clear her throat before speaking. "It's kind of bloody and scary in there, i couldn't ask of you to join me.. But I have to work now" I forced myself to smile politely before tieing Belle up at her usual spot. I grabbed the ropes the two cows where tied to and nodded at Travis. "It was nice meeting you" I told him, which was not an gesture of courtesy but an honest one. It had been a pleasure meeting him. Without paying much closer attention to it, I lead the cows into a back door and realesed them into the dark room. In the room of where the actual butching happened my father greated me with a smile and a fast nodd. Normally, he always gave me a hug, but not when we met in the butchery since his apron was drenched in blood. I relucantly pulled on my own apron and grabbed a butchers knife. My mind was off to the big fields of the ranch I just visited. To be able to ride along the great fields each and every day. To never have to go to this place again. I couldn't keep my focus, not even when I started to cut the already butchered cows into pieces and emptying the cows stomach of intestines. I knew my daydreams wasn't correct. Nobody lived that way. Even if Travis had the big farm and no need to work, he never got to enjoy it like I did in my mind. He was trapped in his prison, and I was trapped in mine.

Travis Graeson

I watch as she takes the cows away and to the back of the butchery. My body compels me to follow her but I have to force myself not to. I know that I do not belong back there but instead out her and out of her way. I feel as though I should leave but I decide not to. I want to wait for her instead so that when she is finished I can spend more time with her. I can't explain what I am feeling but whenever I am around her I just feel happy. Which is something I haven't felt in years probably not since I was born in all actuality. I walk over to the side of the butchery and sit down leaning against one of its stone walls.

I play with my whip and whistle as I anxiously wait for her. All I can think about is how lovely she looked riding that horse. Suddenly my fists tighten and I feel as though I have been punched in the gut. Could this feeling possibly be love? No there is no way it can be I just met her! But yet here I am daydreaming about her and all of her beauty! I let out a moan and put more forehead against my knees. Its not that I am ashamed to like Aria its just I don't know how a relationship between us could ever blossom and form. She just seems so unreachable like a golden treasure atop a massive cliff. However, I know I must try to reach the treasure and if I do then I will have all the riches I could ever desire.

Jack entered the room just about the time when I was supposed to start on the second cow haning from the ceiling. As always, his bare presence gave me a feeling of discomfort and nervousness. I could feel his grey eyes following each and every one of my moves. I just couldn't stay concentrated. I turned around with the knife in my hand and blood on my apron, staring right into those grey eyes with that evil touch hiding behind them. "Do you mind? I'm trying to work" I bursted out, annoyed as I were. He walked towards me and he had his muscular arms crossed. He must be very strong, working at the butchery was no easy job. She never did the heaviest work, which was managing to get the animal up to the hanging from the ceiling. Jack and her father always did that. Sometimes the butchers boy' Jorah swings by to help his father out. The old man was only a few feet away from me now. When he was standing next to me, I could feel his finger following my jawline. "It's such a shame, having beautiful truely beautiful little girl like you taken on men's duty here at the butchery" He said, while he continued stroking my cheek. My pulse was raising, I couldn't manage keeping my breath under control. I felt scared, this man has always had that effect on me. I never quite annoyed our unequal relationship. While he held all the power, I could never be truely rude or tell him off since me and my father may loose our jobs.

His hand was starting to brush through my wavy brown hair when I could feel his alcohol smelling breath on my face again. "It's so hard, having a beautiful little girl like you, with such a young womans body running around here.. all day.." Suddenly I panicked. I wasn't stupid, I knew where this was going in his mind. I tried to back off, but my body froze. I never experienced a such a true panick-attack before. His hands were sliding down to my breasts, and by the time I got controll over my body again his hands were hardly massaging them: "What the hell are you doing? Don't touch me" I hissed, but it didn't come out much louder them a whisper. As she began pulling away, he grabbed her by her hair holding her in a hard grip. It hurted, and she could feel every single hair being stretched from scalp. "You come around here in your pretty little dresses with your pretty little hair, tempting me, each and every day" He was the one hissing now, his teeth were still hardly clenched together and he was spitting while he was talking. The old man had already started growing some grey hair, eventhough he couldn't have been older than 40 years of age. He looked older than that, with wrinkles and always that disturbing grinn on his house. Being his child must be horrible, he was so evil. I knew he only had sons though, maybe that was for the best. "But you are going to do, whatever I tell you. Do you hear that? I sent your father away on a mission you see, so he won't be disturbing us. If you wouldn't obey my orders.. Well you are not going to be a bad little girl are you?" He spoke to her in that clear voice one only uses when speaking to children. It absolutely disgusted her. She could feel her hands starting to shake now, when she had to make her choice. None of the options seemed very tempting, since she didn't want her family to starve or to please this man in whatever way. He grabbed her body and held it close to his, and when he was pulling his hand down against her legs, coice became clear to her. This was never a solution. She started pulling away, screaming as loudly as she could. He grabbed her hair once again, pulling her away from him. "Are you denying me? Aria Rivendale you are a fool, just like your father" His grip hurted as much as before. I wanted to keep on screaming, but I honestly didn't dare.

His hand in my hair started directing my head. He pushed my face into the cows stomach I just opened. I tried to pull away but he was so much stronger than me. I started screaming hysterically, but I forced myself to stop as I felt the taste of raw meat and blood in my mouth. I started hitting in Jacks direction, but didn't seem to be able to hit him. The smell was the most horrifying, scaring thing I could possible imagine. I tried to pull myself out, but he had me in a iron grip. The intestines felt wet and soft on my face somehow. It felt like forever when he finally realesed me, and walked out of the room like nothing happened. I fell down in a big pile, crying and throwing up on the floor. The wet thick fluid of blood was still left on my face, but as my tears began pouring they formed two trails on my cheeks. When my body had stopped shaken and I've gotten my body undercontroll, I decided to flee. I took the backdoor, since I didn't dare facing him again. I was just about to run home when I saw him. Sitting against the wall was Travis. She froze, and stared at him with sudden fear.

Travis Graeson

    I never knew how boring it can really be when you are waiting for someone until now. I mean I am use to waiting since I am locked away in the ranch. However, even that seems like nothing compared to this right now. Maybe its because I am waiting for someone I desperately want to see. Or maybe its because I am in a place I know I do not belong, or at least according to my father where I don't belong. I cross my arms and furrow my brows as I think about what my father always tells us. The reason he doesn't let any of us out into the district isn't because he wants to keep us safe. Instead its because he believes that we are all so much better than the others in the district because we are so rich. In all truth being out with Aria today has proven something to me, we aren't better than the people of district ten but instead we are worse, or at least my father is.

    A gentle breeze begins to pick up causing my long golden hair lash around in the air. My ears tune in to all the specific sounds around me as nature creates its own orchestra. I hear the sound of the wind swirling through the leaves, I hear the distant flow of water from a nearby stream, I hear the lovely songs of what I believe are mockingbirds, and I even here the sound of cows grazing on a nearby farm. I let out a long sigh and lean my head against the stone wall, everything is so peaceful. I can't explain why but I never feel this way back at the ranch, I am only ever afraid, but here its all different. Here I am free to listen to the sounds of nature and to let my self wallow in peace. A smile cracks my lips as I close my eyes and listen to the symphony.

    However, something cuts through the symphony like a wrong note played during a main solo, a scream. My eyes open wide and I pick my head up from the wall in alarm. I know that kind of scream since I have heard it so many times before from my sisters and mother. That scream isn't a scream of children playing, no, it is the scream of someone in complete fear. It is the same scream that has echoed through my head for years and it has even escaped my lips on a few rare occasions. My fists clench at the thought of someone being abused the same way I am, so I listen very carefully for the scream to come again but it never does. I find it rather odd since from my experiences with the scream it almost always happens at least twice.

    I eventually give up on listening for the second scream after about five minutes tick by. I look down at my arm and run my hand over all the brands representing all the district ten tributes. My stomach twists at the thought of the rapidly approaching Reaping. Part of me fears it like I naturally should, but another part of me wants myself to get reaped so I can escape my father. One thing I know for sure if I ever do get reaped and in the small chance I do win my father isn't getting any of my riches and isn't moving to victors village with us. Just the thought of a life without him sends warmth through my body and brings a smile to my face.

    I hear a door open nearby and my heart leaps as I think it is Aria finally finished with her work. Sure enough I was right that its Aria but when I see her my heart freezes and drops to my stomach. Her lovely face is caked in thick blood with two tear trails cascading from her eyes which look as though they have seen a ghost. I shoot to my feet and race over to her, "Dear Lord Aria! What happened? Are you okay?" I can't stop the questions that are flying out of my mouth but I realize I shouldn't be so pushy when someone is like this. I take her hand gently then say "Here come on there is a stream nearby we can wash the blood off."
