Antonio could not care less about the Reaping, and would have preferred to get his herd where they belonged, being a cowboy was really maddening the day of the Reaping, last year he had lost two or three cattle due to that damn Reaping. But he would never say anything about it, he would just go along with what was required, he guessed until he was dead. That was not a pleasant thought death held no joy for Antonio. He had brushed over death one too many times. It was not long before he heard the announcement and went to the square. He was very bored at the Reaping, he had nothing to be worried about he would not be called, and he had no children that could be called.
Antonio could not help the expression on his face when he heard the name “Larae Vacanti” was chosen from District 10, everybody around him looked at him, they were wondering what Antonio was hiding Antonio had seen that look before, that was the look that...
“wait no it can't be.” he whispered in desperation as he got closer to the show. Her name stuck in his head. Wasn't that the name of his daughter? Larae and Lia the names came rushing back before he could stop them. Emotion filled his eyes, even as he recalled the babies he had left behind, oh so long ago. But had it really been 18 years? He could see from the screen that she was not a young child, and for the moment he was grateful for that. Now he was interested in the games. He had to know what became of Larae. His heart broke when he saw that the daughter he never knew died so early in the games. It was at that moment he decided he would find Lia.
10 years had passed since that day and Antonio had no luck. His Ranch was doing well though he looked around. Life just seemed empty without his family.
