ELI BRONSON
Her arms are tightly roped around my hips, her face buried into my stomach. She tilts her head upwards so she can look into my eyes. She has beautiful green eyes, I loved her eyes. I loved her so much. I can't help myself with my hands run through her red hair, wanting to wipe her lips pulled into a pout and her ever widening green eyes off her face. "Please?" She whispers, knowing fully well that I won't be able to resist. "One day I will regret this, and one day I will say no."
Her gaze is still hopeful, even as I unwrap her tightly wound arms and take her hand in mine. "Today is not that day." She smiles and runs out the door, pulling me along with her.
She spends the walk whole walk to the restaurant bouncing and rambling, excitement running through her veins and seeping through her skin into the air around her. Being in her presence forces me to breathe in the excitement as she goes on and on about "how much I'll love her", "how great she is", "how much fun this will be" and "how well we'll get along". A smile stretches across me face at her excitement and endless chatter.
We stop outside of a restaurant of some sorts, Arielle telling me that she is sure that this girl - Kelsie - just has to be here. When she sees a girl - Kelsie, I assume - she runs up to her and jumps into her arms. I stand in shock, Arielle is never that welcoming or eager to see somebody. Not once have I seen her greet anybody like that, even me - and I'm her favorite.
"Kelsie!" She is glad to see her friend, you can hear it in her voice. Kelsie must have done something right that I haven't because Arielle is always so quiet and composed, so unlike how she is now. It makes me happy to see her so happy, I'm still in shock.
But Arielle's excitement isn't the only thing that leaves me in shock. Kelsie leaves me in shock. She's gorgeous, nothing like what I've seen before. Arielle is gorgeous as well but, seriously, she's my little sister. Their looks are so different from each other too. They are both so gorgeous.
"This is my older brother Eli," Arielle tells the human mermaid as she climbs off of her. "Uh, hi," I rub the back of my neck awkwardly, a blush creeping onto my cheeks as I suddenly get self conscious.
Arielle does most of the talking on the way home, often directing the conversation to Kelsie. The affect this girl she has on us, you'd think she was a goddess. And she could be, for all I know. I look at her and I see a friend, a mystery, a story to be written and secrets to unfold. I don't want to look away all the way home, my gaze is immediately turned to something quite alarming when I open the door to our house.
Stuffed animals make company at a small circular table set with tea cups, small plates, cookies, napkins and tea. There are few open chairs, the rest are consumed by her animals. Story books are neatly laid in pile on the floor and next to that pile is a more horrifying pile. This pile is filled with three tutus and three tiaras, similar to the ones her stuffed animals are sporting.
"You have to wear them, it's the rules." Arielle folds her arms tightly over her chest after putting on her own tiara and tutu. In all the eleven years Arielle has lived, never once has she tried to pull something like this.
Nonethless, I am dressed in a tutu and tiara minutes later.
