Evangeline Louise Slovak, the oldest born child of Jack and Anna Slovak. She was born into a dysfunctional household. Her parents had been going through a rocky time before she had been born and with the pressure of raising a baby girl, as well as making sure there was enough food on the table, it added an enormous amount of pressure on both parents. However for the sake of the child, they tried to become one again rather than two desperate individuals clinging onto what was left of their normal lives. Before the birth of Evangeline, Jack went through a time where he felt like he couldn't go on any further, so to battle his problems, he turned to drinking. Anna was trying to prepare herself and the newborn, at first she didn't realize what was going on with her husband and later she would choose to ignore him as they had a massive fight, leaving Anna in tears and Jack storming out of the house not returning until the news of his daughter was born.

As a baby, Eva was genuinely very quiet and serious. Her golden brown eyes were always watching people, skinning them, peeling off their layers. As she began to get older, she started to speak her mind. Her father wasn't around very often when she was a little child (ages one to four), she never really saw him, Eva did hear him, late at night and
