Vivianna Lacosto | District 4

Vivianna stands 5'8" inches tall and weighs 142 pounds. She is slightly stocky, though it is muscle, not fat that contributes to that; Vivi is also a fairly curvy girl - she looks like a grown woman, not a child, and as if she exercises strenuously and eats regular decent meals. With shimmery golden blond hair to the upper half of her back and a healthy tan, she seems like a girl who spends a lot of time in the sun. Eyes of beautiful sky blue are her face's most arresting quality, but, she also has regular and pretty features, full lips, and skin blemished only by a scar across her left cheek from the side of her nose to her cheekbone.



Vivianna prefers to wear casual clothes, despite the fact that her family can afford a little better, and, in accordance with the semi-tropical temperatures she is used to from her district. At home or on the streets, she is generally wearing denim cut-off shorts, and a simple shirt, usually black or blue, her favorite colors. When training, she wears workout clothes, comfortable and designed to accommodate movement. When Vivi wants attention, or is spending her one free day a week at the beach, she wears a bikini that covers as little as possible. She has no unusual markings and does not wear makeup or jewelry.

Though Vivi started out in life as a shy child, her upbringing and training have successfully combated that flaw. Though, internally, Vivianna sometimes feels that old dreadful shyness, she has gotten good at faking an outgoing demeanor until she actually feels outgoing. Vivi smiles frequently, something else that has been drilled into her head. She is by nature a calm and fairly patient person, but, when provoked (though this is not so easy to do,) she can explode in a violent rage that appalls those around her.



Vivianna is tough, not just physically, but mentally, and considers showing signs of weakness unthinkable. She is often under stress, but rarely ever shows it. She embraces challenges, and, can't stand to fail. When she does poorly at something she tends to berate herself mentally - she is her own harshest critic. At times, Vivi suffers from doubt and depression as a result, and it is only strict internal discipline that keeps her going without faltering.



Vivi dislikes school, considering it a waste of time that she could be spending training. Despite that, Vivianna makes friends easily, and many of her peers consider her a friend, though none could say they really know her; she feels truly close to no one, and has had several boyfriends, but no lasting relationships as of yet. On occasion, Vivi can be rebellious in minor ways when with her friends, such as drinking liquor with them if someone manages to produce a bottle. She loves the ocean, and spends the little free time she has there at the shore. She is usually respectful of her parents and trainers/mentors. Her last defense when feeling cornered or pressured is sarcasm, and she can have a fairly biting tongue.

Vivianna's father is Mikal Lacosto, a retired Peacekeeper and current trainer at the center where Vivi herself trains; as a result of his twenty years of service, he is older than most of her peers' parents, and ten years older than his wife, Alquina, who is a school teacher. Vivianna's birth mother died of complications during her birth, and, Alquina has been the only mother she has known. Vivianna loves and respects her father, and, loves Alquina; despite Mikal's former occupation, he is firm and commanding, but, not brutal and does not hit or abuse Vivi in any way. Alquina, too, unable to have children of her own, cherishes her step-daughter. Vivi's parents rarely fight, and she regards her home as a haven.



As a shy child, Vivi would probably have remained so if not for her father's insistence that she put herself out there; he drilled her to overcome this flaw. Despite that, she had a pretty much ideal childhood, in which there was not wealth, but minor prosperity that granted there was always enough food to eat. Both of her parents were surprised when a nine-year-old Vivianna declared an interest in training for the Games. Both of her parents were horrified, though only Alquina showed it. Mikal expressed only pride and approval. When she was ten, she started training for the games.



Vivianna is trained in various combat techniques, but prefers spear and sword to the more 'feminine' skills. She is impressively adept with a spear, and has learned District Four's signature method of using a net to entangle one's opponent. She actually loves training, though at the end of a nine hour day - five in school, and four in training, she is exhausted. Vivi lifts weights and runs for excercise. As a Career, Vivianna intends to volunteer for the Hunger Games, and is confident that she can win. She hopes someday to have a family, in a vague and not terribly pressing kind of way; what she wants much more strongly is her own sailboat.
