He had a terrible attitude.
He refused to listen to anything his mother said, or anyone, for that matter. In school, he was popular among the other children, but a hassle for the teachers and staff. He could hear everything they said, but he acted as if he didn't, not even hesitating to stop what he was doing.
There was only ever one time that his smile was freely available for everyone to see. One special time a year where Kieran Emberstatt was happy, and that time was now. He sat in the playroom, waiting, waiting, waiting for his father. He refused to leave, even though everyone else was either a toddler or a middle-aged lady with a scary face, and even though he was bored out of his mind, because he knew Mace would show up eventually just to see him.
Well, and the others. His blue eyes darted to the two youngsters that he was supposed to call his brother and sister. Even though he considered them the others, he couldn't help feeling like he was the actual other. Countless times he'd whined to his mother, begged her for an explanation as to why they got to live with his Daddy when he still hadn't even got the chance, but every answer he had received was one that didn't actually answer why.
Other than the fact that he was jealous of them, he actually did enjoy Juliette and Mason. They were both adorable, though he knew he was cuter, of course, and they seemed to enjoy him as well. The only time at all he wished they weren't around was when Mace or, ripred forbid, Julian were around. He couldn't get over Julian, who was supposed to treat him just the same as the other children, who was supposed to be nice to him, but wasn't. Or at least not in his eyes.
The door opened, and he immediately jumped to his feet. "Daddy?"fall head first
