Gender: Female
District: Two
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Female
District: Two
Appearance ~
People are just too judgmental. Especially in a place like District two, where it seems like only Career Children are born. Wanting to predict everything about a potential opponent from far away, as if they’re ever even right at the end. Like the common first gaze upon Charlie for instances; where from across the room she appears short and scrawny. Short blonde hair -that’s gelled up more often then not- being her only form of intimidation. Just an easy target to start some trouble with, though all of that changes once the distance is removed.
Second thoughts are taken once up close. This is no chick someone wants to pick a fight with, and they’re already fully aware if they know of her reputation. If they don’t then they assume they’ve encountered yet another career. Which would be logical given those are the only ones to ever stay in such shape in this District. But then again Charlie’s not like everyone else, making all their assumptions false. She’s no career, just as strong as one. Complete opposite from the common predictions, as she actually despises them to no end.
Personality ~
There’s no telling where this discrimination for the majority of the population came from. Training for the games that support murdering innocent children just never made sense to her. The chances of them returning are slim, no matter how tough they are, and even if they do make it back it’s with layers of blood upon their hands. It’s sickening. This mindset has followed her for as long as she can remember. Though the real hatred formed when her only best friend began getting trained by his father, fondness over that adult becoming nonexistent, as if there was any before.
Imagining Jeran going into the games was horrible in itself. Seeing him older and stronger wasn’t possible, leaving him as only a brave little boy within an arena. It was an even more heartbreaking picture then the fear of getting reaped herself. There were no other responsibilities for Charlie then to keep her best friend and his little sister safe. When around them she had a purpose, felt loved and needed, shifting her attitude in ways no one else got to witness. Making the split from them the last day of her sweet side.
The reputation everyone knows today started far before Charlie’s earliest memories. To the district she’s only the troubled orphan girl that picks far too many fights. The truly odd part being that she’s not even a career, yet sheds as much blood as they do. With no Ruzes to call family anymore she has no point in maintaining her heart. Maybe even the complete opposite as she finds a reason to cause as much chaos and disturbance as she can. Payback needs to be given for separating her from Jeran, and with no knowledge on who deserves it; it’s given to anyone in her path.
History ~
For a while Charlie was only a typical troubled child. It’s common for kids in packed foster homes, with little parental figures, to misbehave regularly. Around the Ruze family she was extremely better, even if Jeran and her were constantly getting into mischief. They leveled each other out perfectly as he was sweet and she was sour, forming the best candy combination. Until one day he wasn’t there to put that reasoning into her, and she finally went off the rails to go into protection mode.
Witnessing Jeran’s little sister, Kyanite, crying and bloody made Charlie sick to her stomach. If only she made it to recess a couple of minutes earlier, and guilt consumed her like nothing else. Her one job, failed. Insults and shoves directed her way would have her hardly reacting, but towards the ones she loves is completely different. Revenge became the only thing on her mind, and she gladly gave physical payback to the little boy that had done such a thing to Kya. Would she of done anything different if she knew this would have her sent far away from the ones she loves? Probably not.
When Charlie was shipped off to the other end of the district, her heart was left behind in Jeran’s care. Even the idea of creating new friends refused to crosse her mind, as the only relations she holds now are enemies. Being pulled from the only comfort she’s ever known stirred up so many unknown emotions, and it was the only way she knew how to handle it all. Cause disorder wherever she goes, and get kicked from as many foster homes as possible. Try to escape back to her real family, though it continuously fails. Eventually they’d have to send her back to where she belongs…or she’ll just be waiting until the day she turns eighteen and can make that final move on her own. And after ten long years, that’s exactly what happens.
