as my memory rests

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
Blaise Krigel. Ever since the reaping Leon is all I can think of. His name had be drawn in the lottery forcing him into the arena with a bunch of bloodthirsty tributes already calling his name. Leon Krigel. Ever since the reaping, I haven't left the square. I wanted to say goodbye to Leon, but I didn't have the courage, so I wrote him a letter instead. The thought still haunts me to this date. He's one who never noticed me, but a lot of people don't even know I exist. It doesn't make up for not saying goodbye, though. I let him down the moment the letter slipped from my hand, but the only hope I hold onto is him taking the letter serious because that's what it was meant to be serious not a joke.
I say I'm a strong career, but I'm a failure for not saying goodbye. I'm a coward for writing a letter. I'm a weak coward.
My end of the promise has been kept. Every second I see him on the screen, I'm shouting his name cheering for it. You can do it Leon! It doesn't even bother me that people stare as the cheers fly from my lips into the air. It doesn't mean watching his fight for survival is easy. The bloodbath was easy for him it seemed. He flew through it with no problems in the world. People died, though, yet he survived. I watched as he survived a brutal mutt fight the following day. You can do it! I'm cheering for you! He's definitely proving to people that he's a force to be reckoned with, and it brings a huge grin to my face. Perhaps he'll bring the honor and glory home to district four this year. God knows we need a victor.
I watched him stab the guy from seven in the ear. He deserved it as he was trying to kill Leon. I don't know his name, and I definitely don't care, but that fight wasn't pretty. I gritted my teeth when that stupid crab thing sliced his arm clean off his body. Keep fighting Leon. You can do it! It's a pain I hope I never experience, yet my dreams of going into the games spreads wide. All I want is to prove to my friends that I'm better than them, yet Leon is proving himself now. Maybe he's the best there was, but it's impossible to know for sure.
I've watched the fight with him against the girl from eleven, and I must admit I thought for sure he was dead. It's beyond my wildest imagination how she learned to fight so well, but she definitely gave Leon a run for his money, but somehow Leon won. He got his foot out of his butt and won. Using a spear with one hand wasn't one of his best decisions. Anyone who's had any career training would know that it takes two hands to work the spear properly, but Leon only has one.
He's fought against twenty-three there's and twenty cannons have rang through my ears. One of those cannons hasn't belonged to him. I don't know how it's happened, but both district four tributes are still alive. Three stand in his way of victory. Three tributes including his district partner. You can do it Leon! His return home is so close, and it's one I want to happen. He's strong and brave, but the others have an advantage except the girl from one because all their arms and legs are attached. Leon is missing an arm. One is missing a leg. She can't run away, yet Leon can.
Remember Leon Krigel, I'm cheering for you, and I'll always be cheering for you. Return home so my mistakes can be forgotten, and I'll no longer be the failure I've always been.
