Age: Eighteen
Gender: Male
District/Area: D1
Appearance:
At 6'3" Dio is taller than most of his peers, and his physique is plain well defined muscle. Dionysis moves gracefully, carrying his body well, as he has been trained to do along with so much else. He holds his head up, radiating poise and self-confidence, and, especially if there are cameras on him, or a crowd watching, he smiles a little mysterious half-smile with full lips which just ocassionally turns into a sunny grin that shows off straight white teeth and lights up his beautiful face, especially his ever-so-pale blue eyes.
With a light golden tan, Dio looks as if he spends all day in the sun, though that isn't the truth at all. He wears his dark golden blonde hair in braids that turn into dreads, usually pulled back into a tail at the back of his head, or worn loose as a frame for his face. Most of the time, this young man is dressed (or half-dressed) in athletic clothes, appropriate for what he spends his time doing, but when he wants to dress up in one fabulously concocted suit or other, he wears the clothes elegantly.
Personality:
Dionysis is by nature a calm and patient person, and it takes a whole lot to press him into losing his temper, but once he does go off, he's just as appallingly violent as he's been taught to be, often shocking others around him; others have always covered for him when this happens so that he avoids trouble. He is content with his life in general, though he pushes himself quite hard and causes himself stress: anything less than perfect he views as a weakness, and he has no tolerance for weakness.
Proud to be a career tribute and looking forward to volunteering for the Games, Dio is very focused on training, and doesn't spend much of his time socializing; he figures appearing friendly may be important, but actually making friends with those around him hasn't been something he's spent much time on. Having had casual sexual encounters with several of his peers, the young man discovered early that he doesn't have any really strong sexual preference, other than a willing partner who expects little as far as emotions are concerned. He figures he will probably settle down and have a family at some point, when he is 'old' (meaning over 30.)
Dio is spoiled, and even knows it: due to his family's relative wealth, he has never missed a meal or been denied anything that he really wanted, except perhaps a chance to live in the Capitol, which is one thing he does desire; he is envious of the Capitol style of living and wants this for himself and considers becoming a victor his best chance to be the celebrity he would like to be. He is also therefore goal oriented, and is not at all spoiled when it comes to working hard: he does so every day and that is his best quality; his worst is that he is loyal only to himself, though he knows how to appear charming.
History:
Born into the well-to-do Gleam family of District 1, the second child of three (one elder sister and one younger,) Dio knew that he wanted to be in the Hunger Games, which the whole family loved watching, from the time he was quite young. This passion was actually encouraged by Dio's parents, rather shallow individuals who thought quite a lot of their own pride, and who took pains to see that when he was of age, their son received some of the best training possible towards the goal of becoming a victor. His parents bragged about him to their friends and clients and this only made young Dio ever more determined.
Though, like everyone else, prior to this year Dionysis had to attend school, that was always second place to his training; while he had passing marks in reading and science, the subjects he excelled in were sword and spear, running and endurance and hand-to-hand combat. While training, in addition to being dedicated fiercely, the young man was also obedient and respectful of his teachers except in times of extreme stress. Dio has become what he set out to be: a very experienced killer, except for the small fact that he's never actually had to kill anyone.
At home, Dio mostly just eats and sleeps since he is tired after a long day's working out, but he is kind and loving with his sisters, and glad that there are female careers too, in case one of them would be Reaped; as much as he wants that for himself it is the last thing he wants for his gentler siblings. His parents Dio treats more like peers, showing them love but no deep respect and counting on them to provide whatever he wants since they have always spoiled and indulged him. He really is going to be in some trouble if he makes it to the arena because he is used to physical tests of endurance, but absolutely unfamiliar with material deprivation.
