You know nothing of the world. You are a fool chasing false premonitions and insignificant goals. They lay then out before you to goad you into becoming the person they want you to be, and even though you feel you are your own person, you are anything but. Maybe someday you will realise that you are a puppet, a piece in their games. Until that day comes you are just a cog in their system. One Career out of several thousand. You are insignificant.

Your honor is your downfall. You grit that pride between your teeth to stop you screaming when you are pushed beyond your limits. You know that they are only doing it to make you stronger. You know it's for a positive cause. What you know and what is true are two different things. You are wrong. They put you through this pain, they train you for their Hunger Games, and all for what? You know deep down it's a lottery, and your chance may never come. All that pain. All that hard work. The day will come where you turn nineteen, and by then it will be too late. You will be institutionalised. All they ever built you to be was a Career, and now you can never be that.

You think it will turn out okay. Your bitter pride pushes you to ignore the signs that are so visible and evident. You soldier on, because it's all you know. This is your entire world. What alternative is there? None. This is the only path they lay out for you. Go ahead, Career, pick up that weapon and carry on preparing for a chance that will never come. Keep pretending that your future is one of sweet glory. The day will come where that sweetness turns sour, and sits in your stomach until you are sick.

Do you doubt yourself yet? You are a stupid boy. Not yet fully grown, I think. Red hair sprouting awkwardly on your scalp - you shave it yourself but it always grows back alarming red. Your shoulders and arms are that of a Career, yes. They have built you well. Your mind too is sculpted by them to take on any and every danger. Yet you do not know that no danger comes for you. That's the sad part. You are safe, and that tears you apart.

You were born in Four, you grew up in Four and you have my word that you will die in Four. Useless Career with no future, because we live in a state where we train thousands upon thousands to be killers, and yet only two get chosen every year. We are left with a generation of Careers who are not prepared for adult life. It's inevitable - Right in front of our faces. You will become one of those thousand with no hope and no future.

Your siblings, they too are damned like you. They look up to you as the model Career. You are so proud and immovable. They think you a role model, they want to be just like you, big brother. And they will. They will be useless and unused by the state, just like you. Hundreds of Career families, all forgotten. The Staites are no different. Time will past, and your family will be coated in dust, cast away by time. You will descend into pointless hundrum, driven mad by the system that built you.
