RUNNING: 100M SPRINT

Welcome to the 100 meter sprint tournament of the second Panem Olympic Games! The track and field complex is located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The execution of this event is simple. Feel free to roleplay your character on the starting blocks and running, and then paste the code [*roll=349+1050] without the asterisks into your post and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This will result in a four-digit number that will correspond to a time, which is read with a decimal point separating the first two and the last two digits (e.g. 1264 is read as 12.64 seconds)

The competitor with the lowest time wins this event. Times for this event will be continually updated on this thread.

After everyone has rolled, feel free to edit your post with your character's reaction if you so desire, but please keep it to one post rather than multiple.

There is NO POSTING ORDER; you may post your shots whenever you please. Keep in mind that this event must be wrapped up by the end of the Olympics Day.

The hundred meter sprint event is up. This is my shot at showing everyone just how strong and fast I am. I've done my stretching for this event. A little jogging in place got my heart pumping. Some basic leg stretches to work out any possible cramps. I will be pissed if a cramp wrecks my shot at winning this event. I already feel a bit of pre event butterflies. Despite my confidence in myself having so many viewers watch me compete will undoubtedly make me try harder. Whether or not that messes me up remains to be seen.

I'm ready. I'm at the starting block now and await the signal. I want to make myself proud by running the fastest time. I look around, but that only makes the nerves in my stomach increase tenfold. I never thought there would be a huge crowd like this. It's much more difficult to perform under such circumstances, but I guess that's why it's being promoted so heavily. I get the signal to take off and I sprint as hard as I can push myself.

He was here with his family. Well maybe not in this race itself but he wasn't the only Rex in the olympics - mama Rex would never allow it. Tiger always came out to big shows like this and so naturally he came out to this. He had signed up for boxing just like his brother had, and in his head he dreamed that he might beat out his brother and take home the gold. Tiger could get silver of course, but he would be the best. He was always the best. Now he just had to show people how fast he could run. He was a small little boy who loved to run away and bother people, this event was almost designed for him. Now to only prove it. The gun went off and he blazed forward. An older, larger boy lagged behind him enough that he was able to turn around after crossing the finish line and make a face at him. It was too good of an opportunity, he had to cause trouble. After all, he had just proved that that guy couldn't catch him.

I'm used to running. It's all I do in District One. It's because I'm a trouble-maker who likes to start fights, and yknow, sometimes those fights get a little out of hand and I have to run for my life. But mostly I just hide behind things, because running for long distances in District One is kind of inconvenient. Eventually the suckers forget all about me and go back to whatever gang-related nonsense the kids of the streets get into these days. As long as I can sprint to the nearest alleyway and hide myself underneath a pile of trash (or something worse), they can't find me.

My speed comes in handy sometimes for multiple reasons. Today, however, it's biggest use is in this race against a bunch of other suckers just like me who think they can win a little respect for themselves. I just hope the nobody take these things too seriously... I'm not expecting to win much this time around, but I am not completely inadequate. And really, you throw the best and the brightest into one city and ask them to compete? Well, somebody has to lose.

I guess we'll see how today goes. Am I worthy to wear the crown? We're about to find out...

Bastian was a runner. He loves to run. It was all he did in District 4. Many of the others would swim and do other things. His was running. He knew he was a bigger guy than some. He wasn't as slim as some others. One of the racers was small and he knew that. The race was gonna be a tough one and he knew it. Bastian was not in the race this time. Something went wrong and he knew it. Maybe it was his mind playing tricks. Maybe he wasn't as strong and fast as he thought. He was ready and then the race began. He had to prove that he was better. He was running and he just wasn't fast enough. He fell behind a bit from his normal runs. He was gonna have to try harder. His feet just wouldn't let him. He made it in and felt like curling up and dying now from embarrassment.

He'd been so busy assessing and picking and running that he'd forgotten one of those things could actually bring him legitimate glory. He barely made it to the start line, his bib askew, his smile cocked. He brushed the heavy curls from his eyes and looked to either side. Both boys - men, actually - towered over him. He caught the eye of the stud. "They send out stylists for you or what? Hope you run fast, pretty boy!"

And with that, he was off, the wind in his hair, and few coins jangling in his pockets.

It bothers her only because Kaia didn't expect to be the only girl on the field; but she supposes that a part of her didn't really expect many other girls to be bouncing on the balls of their feet in preparation to beat out a couple of guys.

Just because they're mostly all taller than her doesn't mean they can run faster than her, after all. Height is no representation of their speed - and Kaia is a Blackmore. Like the rest of her family, she can deal with this. She can adapt.

(She has to.)

They're called to their line-up, and she tosses one of the boys a wink. "Ready to go?" she purrs as she settles into her spot, curving her lips into a smile sent straight to his face before setting her eyes on the prize - the finish line.

The gun goes off, and she flies in pursuit.

Carver had always considered himself to be strong. Physical strength was something he was proud of. What was the point in being able to break bones or stab someone if he couldn't actually catch them? That was the only reason he had decided to sign up for the sprinting challenge. To test his personal reaction time. Just imagine that a criminal is inches ahead of you, he told himself. Catch them. The gun went on, and Carver sped away as fast as he felt that he could.

Alec just wanted to run fast and make his mom proud of him, taking his place at the starting line and then taking off at the signal, running as fast as he can. The racers to either side of him were both bigger than he was, but he would have to rely on his natural speed, and hope not to falter or hesitate along the way, his mind blank of everything but the running as he sprinted down the track.
