JAVELIN THROW

Welcome to the Javelin Throw event of the second Panem Olympic Games! The track and field complex is located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The execution of this event is simple. Feel free to roleplay your character setting up for their throws, and then paste the code [*roll=980+6500] without the asterisks into your post THREE TIMES and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This will result in a four-digit number that will correspond to a distance, which is read with a decimal point separating the first two and the last two digits (e.g. 6882 is read as 68.82 meters) Each participant will be measured by their best throw only, not their average distance or the sum of their throws.

The competitor with the furthest distance wins this event. Distances for this event will be continually updated on this thread; however, the overall decathlon standings will be updated on a separate thread.

After you have rolled, feel free to edit your post with your character's reaction to each throw if you so desire, but please keep it to one post rather than multiple.

There is NO POSTING ORDER; you may post your throws whenever you please. Keep in mind that this event must be wrapped up by the end of the Olympics Day.

oday is the day I compete in front of the nation in the Panem Olympics. When someone told me that I would be competeing in the Olympics, I wanted to laugh, cry, scream, jump for joy because in my eyes it was a huge honor. Finding out that I qualified for the javelin throw was something I never dreamed would happen, but here I am standing with my coach as I prep to step out onto the field. A nice calm rests upon my body; I am not nervous like people would expect me to be. All that's required is to give my best shot. One hundred percent is all I can give, and I plan on giving one hundred ten percent. It's always important to give the best I can because one day it'll pay off. One day I'll shine, and everyone will know who I am, but for now that doesn't matter.

It's the moment of truth. It's time when I do the best I can to show the nation who I am. I want people to remember me for giving the best I could although the stakes are high. I want to show them that I can overcome the obstacles standing in my way. My main obstacle is my height. It's hard being short, but it doesn't mean anything because it's easily overcame. I grab the spear and hold it in my hand. I know how to do this. I can do this. This will be mine. I stand in position as I prepare for what will be the best I've ever done in my entire life. I throw with all my might.

How hard could it be? All I have to do is throw a spear as far as I possibly can. Can't be that hard right? I don't know. Nothing is hard. I will win. After no luck, it's time I bring a medal home for myself so I can laugh at those who have the same last name as me. Those are the fake ones, and it would be fun to laugh at them. To show them that I am the best because they have nothing compared to me. How hard can it be to throw this spear? Finally time to show everyone I am who I say I am. I will be remembered for this. I grab the spear, and I throw as hard as I possibly can. What could go wrong?

Meira looked all around her, the loud cheering surrounding her quieted by the barrier in her hearing. It must have been loud though, with everyone’s mouth open and legs stomping and hands slapping some body part. It was her first Panem Olympics—her father had not let her compete in the first one—and she was nervous as she looked at her competitors. Half of them were from District 4, some of whose faces she had seen before, but the other half were either from District 1 or 2 and all of them probably had more training than her. She had never had proper training, all of her skills were taught to her by her father. The javelin was smaller than the spear she was used to, but it would have to do as she stepped up and prepared for her throws.

Perhaps it was a blessing that her hearing was impaired; the sounds around her would not affect her and there were enough visual aids to let her know when it was her turn. She could focus on the spear in her hand and not on the buzzing that floated around her head all the time.

The Beauty Of The Snow

    The breeze whistled as it flowed flawlessly through her radiant white-blonde hair, that was ever so perfectly tied back into a pony tail. Fox's outfit was also a thing of incredible glory and breath taking beauty, it was a light lavender with lovely light blue stripes. However, it was Fox herself who was the true pinnacle of beauty, her smooth face covered so slightly with makeup. Causing the stadium lights to make her intriguing blue eyes shine like two stars in a cold dark night sky. Fox was quite excited for this event, back home she was one of the most renowned spear throwers, and currently she had been living up to that. All throughout warm ups she was hitting distances that made the other competitors glares towards her. Yet she didn't care, all she cared about was stunning the audience and of course acquiring the gold medal when this was all said and done. She had done half of this in her very first event, the 10m dive, however, she was beaten by one wretched girl leaving herself with a silver medal. Of course silver wasn't bad but the way she saw it, all it said was that she was second best and first loser. Fox would not allow that to happen to her again, she already knew she was dazzling the audience by their attentive eyes on her. Now all she had to do was focus, shine, and throw her javelin like she had done numerous times before.

    Fox paid close attention to every detail of her opponents as they slowly went up to throw. She was personally surprised by some of the throws they were getting. On the other hand though Fox was happy with what she was experiencing, a challenge. A challenge was perfect for her publicity, when she overcomes it she will be a well known star! This would also be a great chance to prove the power of her icy charms when it came to lethality. Just because she was here in the Olympic Games sure as hell didn't mean she wasn't going to the Hunger Games one year. That dream still burned bright in her mind, possibly even brighter than ever before. Now when she entered all of Panem would know her name, and it better be from good memories here.

    When she was finally given the all clear to throw she plastered a smile to her face and took her place. She wished she could stay in the spot light forever, but all beasts must be fed. With a wink to the cameras and crowd she threw her Javelin just as she had spent many years of her life being brutally trained to...

I never thought that I, of all people, would be an olympic medal winner. Yet here I stood with two, a bronze and a silver, already under my belt. To say I was drunk with victory was an understatement, for I felt positively unstoppable. I wasn't well known for much besides my money. I wasn't a career so much as a reckless warrior on the streets of District One. In all honesty, I would likely die if I got reaped. Yet I still had power enough to defeat the best of Panem. The throws I had gotten in the past couple of days were enough to prove that.

I am eager to prove myself to the watching crowd. They notice me now. I have won multiple medals, and that is a feat not easily achieved when you are competing against the best. The crowd roars around me as I take position for my third and final throwing event. Later I'll participate in weightlifting, but for now, I throw...

The olympics were shaping up to be very good for Katrina. She had landed a silver medal in one of the swimming competitions, and had made it to the second round of beach volleyball (which was where she was headed after this), and as she took up a her spot at the javelin throwing area, she couldn't keep the grin off of her face. There were archers, swordsman, and careers versed in all manner of weaponry, and she was sure they were good at what they did. Some of them probably had weapon medals already. But javelins? That was the weapon Katrina was born to wield. Her second medal was in her grasp. The bell went off and the hurling began.

Today was Jay's first challenge. He had to overcome the Javelin throw today. His specialty was with spears, so Jay thought the maybe a javelin would be a lot like a spear and he can throw a spear far. He wasn't much of a scared guy, it was more of the nerves getting to him. Everyone was watching. He had to win. He had to prove the Krearns name wasn't tainted by Mason. Peridot would have been killed on the first day if it was Jay. Peridot was an unknown threat and Jay was very good at spotting them out right away. Jay was also smart enough to know when to leave bloodbath. Jay watched as a few people went for the javelin throw. One guy got the farthest and Jay was shaken to his core.

Jay was doing a bit of breathing relaxation crap because his nerves were high and he didn't want to fail. He couldn't fail. It was his time to shine. It was his time to prove to everyone that he's a better man than Mason and Davy ever were. Oceania was proving the might in fencing and Jay would prove it here in this competition. Jay was better than everyone here. He was smarter than everyone and he knew what he was doing here. He was going to crush everyone and it was his dream to do so. He wants to be heard by everyone. He wants to take all the glory just like Peridot did for killing Mason. He wants to destroy District 1. The bloody shark tooth necklace hangs from his neck, the one in bloodbath with Mason. He received it back with Mason's body. It was his lucky charm in the Olympics and it would help him more than it did with Mason. Jay grabbed the Javelin and threw it, waiting to see how well he did.

(Between a week's time he'd have a chance at two gold medals - one in wrestling and a twin in javelin throw - and he'd better get his hands around both of them.

Ever since coming to this sea-sunken runt of a career district, Shiloh dreamed of each three of his throws; they'd be perfect. He'd make sure of it. Besides, javelins were practically his baby toys, and there was no chance in hell he'd slip this up like being knocked out the second round of wrestling (he had his money against himself too, with Tyrannus Whorus weight pressing him into the ground). The chance to get his gold medal back in wrestling was gone, yet there was still javelin throw. And at least one medal would mean something; he kept this thought as he took a place - it didn't feel like his place, not among these common careers.

No, his place was first, with gold around his neck; his place was with the gods.

Villain Shoal —

Villain had bowed out of the foil bracket with grace. This was better, anyhow; he'd always been more suited toward feats of athleticism over feats of combat. Javelin throwing was a bit of both, sure; but it wasn't that hard to chuck a spear. His dad fought with a trident and net, and his other dad had him heaving oars and fish all over the place; between the pair, he'd used the weapons and built up the necessary strength to not fail utterly.
