Name: Norah Lux
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
District: District One
Appearance:
(Will be faceclaiming Scarlett Byrne shortly)
Norah's dark brown hair falls a bit passed her shoulders, hiding a tattoo on her neck. Her tattoo is an image of a dagger, the hilt encrusted in small stones. It may not be the most interesting tattoo, but it symbolizes her brother that she lost eight years ago. Her eyes are green, similar to that of algae floating atop the water's surface, containing small specs of lighter shades. A small stone hangs from her neck, a symbol of herself. The stone is a small, shimmering amethyst. Her birthstone. Norah believes it brings her good luck. Her skin is in some sense pale, though not unhealthy.
Norah wears short-sleeved shirts, enjoying the warmth of the sun hit her arms. Or the rain, poking at her skin like tiny little daggers. She has a long, but thin scar on her forearm from when she found out her brother had passed. She got upset and ran through the kitchen, tripping on her own feet and slicing her arm on a knife that'd been sticking off of the counter. Even at that time, it did not hurt as badly as hearing about her brother's passing. She hasn't felt true pain like that ever since that tragic day.
Norah doesn't way too much, being as skinny as she is. She doesn't eat as much, always gulping down her food and leaving right away to go for walks. Her 'walks' are more of an adventure. She likes to stroll around the district, watching the people go by, looking to find the same people she saw the day before. She's been told that she is good looking, though she doesn't care. She tends to care more about personality than looks. To her, personality is more than looks.
Personality:
Norah likes to believe that she is a nice, well-rounded person. Which she is, unless she is insulted. If anything insulting is thrown at her, she has a profound way of defending herself with many verbal attacks being slammed right back at them. She has no problem with that, though. She likes to think of it as self-defense. Norah is pretty outgoing, but only with people that she deems worth talking to. Anybody who thinks too highly of themselves gets on her nerves. If they were to come up and talk to her, she blow them off and leave them standing there. Same goes for anybody hitting on her, she simply turns and walks away.
Norah enjoys the thrill of the wind flying through her hair. She goes for runs or walks around the district, not stopping until she gets home. There was one time where she got caught up in a huge crowd that had been blocking her path. She jogged in place the entire time, turning out to be an hour. Norah's a very persistent person, determined to get done what she deems necessary.
Norah is trustworthy, carrying her family's secrets practically since birth. Though, she's also amazing at lying. In fact, she's gotten herself out of trouble multiple times by making up worthy excuses. Anger is an issue with her though, being fierce and occasionally violent. She once punched a man who called her 'sweety'. She succeeded in getting away, though, not getting into any trouble. To the day she's the only one that knows in her household.
History:
Norah was born February sixteenth. Her parents were not happy at the time, and having a child made it even worse. It was her father, Majik, who thought that it would be a good idea to separate for a while. Norah's mother, Topaz, agreed whole-heartily. So, for six years they were separated, Norah living with her father. Living with her father gave her the chance to see who people really are. He ran a small brawling group in his basement. Norah enjoyed sneaking down and watch, the arrogance and pride that got to some of them. Others were forced to by their friends, taking a terrible beating. Her father was never caught, but he stopped when he got together with Topaz once again. Topaz and Majik got more intimate once more, having one more child they name Jamison, before he was even born. Topaz and Majik got a house together, bringing Norah with.
Living with her mother gave her the chance to see what was right and what was wrong. Topaz ran a group that hepled people over losses. So, in example, pretend you were to lose a dear friend. Some would join Topaz's group and discuss it, helping them to get over it. Norah sat in with them, listening to the stories. Some were terrible, murder and such. The others were more peaceful, like old age. Through living with her father and mother, Norah learned some important things. One - trust nobody unless you truly know them; Two - What's on the inside is greater than outside.
Norah was excited to learn that her brother Jamison was being born. She was eight at the time. It went downhill from the moment she got to her mother. Jamison was born with a terrible heart defect. So bad, that it was not possible to cure in time. Jamison passed away the less than an hour after birth. Topaz and Majik were horrified and distraught. This only piled on to the terrible things that'd happened. Who would want a father who secretly beats people up and gambles for a living? As for her mother, Topaz was alright, though it was always sad when she did her job. Norah, utterly filled with sadness, ran away from her home for a while, stealing some of her parent's money. She needed to get away. She stole money, food, and water from her parents so she could leave for a while, a week or so.
Being in the same District, it was difficult to avoid her parents. So to stay away, she acted as if she were poor and had nothing. One day, an old couple walked by, seeing how sad she looked all huddled against a business wall. They took her in as one of their own, giving her her own room and everything. Norah found that these people were far nicer and better than her parents. The old man, who's name happened to be Jamison as well, ran no brawling organization. He worked hard as a goldsmith, which was difficult at his age. And the old woman, Winter, was a hair stylist. They lived the life of any normal District One family. Norah loved it, she found everything they did wonderful.
After five years, Jamison and Winter died of age, both at the age of eighty two. After they passed, Norah thought it was time to go home. She left the household and returned to Topaz and Majik. They welcomed her back with open arms, thankful that she'd returned. As it turned out, Majik had gotten completely over brawling and gotten a job giving tattoos. Topaz still ran her group of grievers. After another year, Norah asked her father for a tattoo. Gladly, Majik gave her a tattoo of her choice. Norah gave him a picture of what she wanted it to look like, an amethyst studded dagger, as Amethyst was Jamison and her own birthstone.
Norah still has not told her parents why she chose the dagger, nor anybody she knows. She refuses to speak of Jamison Lux, leaving his story sacred and untouched for as long as she can keep it that way.
