Minerva ("Min") Agnes Lynx. That was her name.
She was the fourteen year-old girl 'prodigy' from district 3. Minerva hated that word. She just didn't understand.
How did they not realize what she did? It was so simple, yet their minds are not as mature as hers. Minerva just guessed.
She knew she was different, but everyone viewed her as the mentally dominant figure. In that case they thought they had the
right to bully her. Every time they tried, they ended up laughing a lone. They never got things out of her. She was too strong.
What could it be?
Appearance:
She didn't enjoy that she always ended up dictating academic things. That included school projects, schoolwork, and even telling people the right things. Sometimes she pretended to slack off so that people would not rely
on her as their go-to.
They treated her like an encyclopedia, and that's how it looked too.
When anyone asked her a question, they thought Minerva was right. Soon enough, she realized what had happened, but she was honest, and she didn't want to lie. She stopped for a while, just stayed quiet for a long period of time. She was to sick of meeting people's needs.
She was never hesitant, and she never appeared that way either.
She didn't appear bold as she used to. Just sluggish. She still did the same things as before, just in a different mood.
That was exactly how Min appeared.
Dull, worn out. She knew somewhere inside of her she still had hope. She wasn't completely gone yet. That was the most visually apparent thing about her. It went right through, the message so clear. Minerva wasn't ready to give up after all; she did live in technology district. She had a big house, and her dad. She didn't even want to talk about her step-mom. That was another story. She didn’t look to bold, or to weak. She was still a working human being; just rated slightly higher on that scale than normal. She wasn't giving that up.
She had longish red hair, and dark hazel eyes. She was almost never found without glasses. Min didn't worry about her appearance as most of the other girls did. She was simply focused on what she had to do around her than what she might have to do with herself. She was to busy studying, reading, or thinking to care about what she looked like. In this way, she didn't always appear the prettiest or neatest person in her district. She had a thin, bony figure, and she didn't smile often. The only time you would see her face light up was when she saw her father.
How should I learn to be stronger?
Personality:
She was intelligent, far more than average. It proved in school.
The teacher would purposely put hard problems on the board. Knowing district 3, everyone had the answer within minutes. Not Minerva though. She studied the problem, and then her mind started putting everything together. The answer usually just popped into her head. It was easy. She does it every time; and everyone stares at her like she was a goddess.
Min was never fierce; she was not that tough. She isn't easy to temper. She is honest and kind. But on the inside she is broken.
She tries to hide it.
She managed to nickname herself. Minerva is everyone's high expectations.
She didn't enjoy all the attention. Her mom used used to call her Minnie. Minerva didn't mind that at all, in fact she actually kind of liked it. She didn't like to think about her Mom anymore…
She was rarely excited about things. Her life was a mess. Having a special gift wasn't always necessarily a good thing. Everyone always seemed to be thinking in such a dilatory manner. She look on life wasn't such a good one. She only had one friend, Tinker. She was the only girl smart enough to
realize how much pressure was put on Min on a daily basis. It definitely wasn't easy.
She was brave enough to take risks. Minerva isn't usually wrong about things, even if she is, she won't act like all the other smart-alecks in her district.
Min always takes credit for her actions. She respects a decent amount of people, and they respect her too. Tinker was surprisingly a good person. What you may call a true friend. She doesn't cheat of Min like most people try to do, neither is she one of those people that doesn't have your back. Min enjoys that aspect of her.
How will I predict my future?
History:
The past is a different story for her.
Minerva always thinks about her Mother. How beautiful, kind she was, and
how her generosity attracted her father. Her mother had died when she was ten. Minerva hadn't been nearly as smart as she is currently back then. She had started to read all the textbooks in the Library about a year later. Still, Min was a prodigy at that young age as well. Her mother always had adored the gift of intelligence. How could that be? It didn't count as just a gift; to Min it was more of a sacred curse! Her mother was always right. Could Min be over-thinking this? Anyway, her mother had once told her something that Min knew had some sort of deeper meaning.
"The power you have been given is special. Hold on tight to it and never let it go dear. It will create you art, cushion your fall, and give you hope. Always remember that Minnie."
Minerva understood now. She just had to figure out how to use it. Especially now that her father worked full time to maintain all of our money. Her 'evil' step-mom was the exact opposite of Minerva's mother. Min liked to call her 'the woman' because she didn't deserve the title she forced Min to give her. 'Madam Sugar'. That woman sure had issues. 'The woman' was as dumb as a dog chasing its tail. It was truly an embarrassment. She had all the control. She would force Min to do her chores, make her breakfast, and even rub her back. Minerva had started to torture her 'on accident'. It was fun for Min. Madam Sugar would throw a fit, and Min would have the rest of the day to herself. The only thing about the woman Min disliked was her effort to call Min by her middle name, Agnes.
That, out of everything annoyed Min the most.
She hated being called Agnes. The woman had the word crazy written all over her. The only reason Min refused to curse was because her Mom used to tell her not to, and she respected that. Besides the woman, Minerva had once heard from her dad a while back (when he wasn't in his ignorant state working everyday), that the Lynx's had once lived in district 9; the grain
district. Min had actually half-believed him. She seemed almost empty to the games. That was all.
I spread my wings, and hope to fly. Nothing can stop me now.
