Even Brody could say he hadn't fully seen this coming. Admittedly, since he and Matthew had made up, they'd sort of lost touch for a little while as Brody tried to scavenge his reputation at the Detention Center. Lieutenant Rochelle had been surprisingly attentive to the matter; the analogy she used was 'cutting the head off the snake' and had assured him that while she couldn't undo the talk that had floated around the center, on paper his record would be as solid as it ever was.
When she chose to be, that woman was a saint. A smartassed, enigmatic saint.
So here he was, voluntold to appear in front of the conspicuously-named Dunham Engineering Firm building, helmet under his arm and with instructions to serve as a guinea pig for some project the government had apparently commissioned them for.
This must have been what Matthew went when he said he had a plan.
It was something, at least, though Brody hadn't had the slightest clue whether or not his friend (it felt strangely better to call him that, after they made up... albeit with a punch or two thrown) had any kind of head for engineering. Hell, he wasn't entirely sure what to expect as far as what he was being their crash-test dummy for. But he knew Rochelle wasn't the type to joke, so whatever this was, it had to be good.
Brody walked around the side of the building, office giving way to the warehouse attached to it and entering through the back.
"Dunham." He called, his voice echoing through the building, "It's O'Rourke, where you at?"
