Let me start by saying hi to everyone. My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jenn, and truthfully, I'll answer to either, just not Jenny. I'm new to this site; I won't bore you with how exactly I came across it; and while not new to RPing, I've never done a Hunger Games RP nor had I ever actually thought to do one. However, after coming across the site and reading the various rules and site information, I have to say, I really want to RP on the site and participate in a Hunger Games RPG.

A bit more about me. As I mentioned, my name is Jenn, and I am a female. Currently I live in Central Pennsylvania however I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia and lived there until a year and a half ago when I moved in with my parents again to help my disabled mother. I'm a few years past 30, chronically single, and a bit of a geek. I work full time as a warehouse inventory manager for a company that I've been with for 12+ years. In my spare time I enjoy reading (fiction as well as non-fiction), writing (fanfic and I do want to write a novel one day), watching television/movies, video/computer games, genealogy, crochet, history, pen pals, and learning new things. I also like spending time with family.

I first read the Hunger Games a few years ago; long before the movie came out; and love the idea behind them. Not the actual Hunger Games to death, but the world in general fascinates me. It does make me want to explore it more, and understand more about it. And now that I've found the genre for RPG, it makes me want to share it with others and explore.

So, that's me in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to meeting others here on the site, and working on creating a character. If anyone is in need of a character, let me know, I'd love to work with people.

Awesome intro ^^ It's very easy for me to find similarities with you. I'm Kay, one of the resident librarians of the site. I'll be 30 at the very tail end of this year, and my husband is from central PA (Chambersburg, specifically). I've spent a lot of time in Harrisburg as well.

Now I just need to work on a character and figure out how I can fit in that way. Any suggestions, or is it just better to jump in? I was thinking it would be more interesting to start with creating a character in one of the districts who is of age for the games, but I'm also open to other types of characters as well.

Kay - we just recently settled in Harrisburg but I'm finding I like it so much better than the Philadelphia area. Now to just meet some people and make some local friends! 32 isn't the easiest age to meet people at, especially when you don't actually work locally, and you're a bit of an introvert geek. I am actually actively pen paling and have come across pen pals in a variety of different ways. I still have one pen pal that I made sometime in Middle School when my one teacher did a service subscription for the class. We don't write all the time, maybe a letter or two a year, but it's still nice as I learn new things about Greece. A few others developed as I did my geek thing in different fandoms over the years and have really developed into great friendships/letter writing friends and I know one day we'll meet. And the others I've met through different services. For the most part, I was matched with the pen pals through this one international company. They cost $36 but you get 14 names to write to and they provide your name to 10-14 people as well throughout the year your membership is good. I did recently join a new letter writing group; it's anonymous and the company forwards your letters until you decide if you want to share your information with the people or not. My listing just went in and the issue of the magazine hasn't been released yet, but I did write to a few of the people looking for Ghost Writers and have started a correspondence with Anne Boleyn and I am writing as Henry VIII. There's something about getting a real letter in the mail that is...warming.

For your character, you can pretty much start wherever. I'd recommend taking a look at the district descriptions and seeing what appeals to you. Or, hop on over to the cbox and see if anyone is looking for a plot character ^^ It's definitely exciting to have a character who could be reaped, although we have a very robust population in the Capitol as well.

Harrisburg is a fine city <333 and I say that as a native Californian! Very pretty in the fall, good food, quiet enough. And ugh, yeah, seriously. Making friends after about 25 sucks, especially if you have a non-traditional job or living situation. I've had a lot of luck with meetups out here but I dunno how active that community is in central PA.

Sounds like you have the coolest pen pals! My pen pal growing up was from France, and I kept in touch with a few camp friends throughout the US for years. All of those have evaporated though. Now, if I get cards in the mail they are thank you notes or wedding/birth announcements xD Not that I'm complaining, but you're right, it's very different from letters. I like the idea of corresponding through a company, in order to maintain privacy. And to write letters as characters = genius! It's like RPing, old school style. You'll have to let us know how it goes.
