Sitting on my bed, I gaze at the three potential outfits I have laid out to wear this afternoon for our, I wouldn't exactly call it a date, date and look to Shiva who is happily curled up atop my black sweater. So much for that idea unless I can manage to find a lint brush or even some scotch tape for that matter. Sighing, I close my eyes and pick one at random; a dark green strapless tank top, a jean jacket, and my favorite pair of black jeans. I slip on the outfit before carefully checking myself in the mirror. I don't have any make up and so, to get my lips darker, I bite them, not peircing skin but enough to give the normally pale things a bit of color.

I have told my dad that I am spending the afternoon with my fiancé Cinder but that is total bull. I love Cinder but as a friend, I hate the fact that I have to marry him when I would rather just be friends but I must follow tradition and tradition dictates that the eldest daughter must marry a relative to keep the bloodline strong. Sometimes, I wish Abyss had been born a girl so I didn't have to go through this. Well, whatever, I still have a few years before I am expected to marry him.

I hop off my bed and head downstairs, calling out that I'm leaving and I hear Sokoke call out to have fun. She is the happy parent, the gentle soul who hates seeing us miserable. Shiva follows me as I exit the house, the autumn air crisp as I pad towards the cabin I told Cy to meet me at. My breath mists slightly as I walk and I know that winter is on the way.

Excitement fills my veins as I draw closer, wondering if he's here yet and I push the door open, finding that he hasn't arrived yet. My heart sinks bit as I enter the wood cabin that Cinder showed me a few years ago and where Cyrus and I seem to usually meet now a days.

I start a fire in the fireplace and smile as I hear someone coming. Shiva twines herself around my legs, purring contentedly and I reach down and ped her before she goes and curls up by the fire now glowing brightly. I wonder how much longer it will be until Cyrus shows up.

I take a seat by the fire and cross my legs, pulling out one of the books that I am in the middle of reading. I bury my nose in the book until I hear a knock at the door and my heart begins to beat rapidly. Why am I so nervous?

I stand and open the door, my cheeks warm as I smile warmly. "Hey Cy" I say.

Guilt shrouds my heart.

This is like the hundredth time I've lied to Otis and snuck out so I can meat Azea again. She can't know. Is what I tell myself, I'd prefer to keep what happens with my sister and what happens with Azea separate. 'Otis, I thought we didn't lie to each other,' I'd actually said that to her when she tried to lie to me about what was wrong. She constantly said nothing wrong when it's quite obvious to me that everything it wrong - she couldn't hide it from me but she tried to and it broke my heart into millions of tiny pieces. So how would she feel if she found out? I don't think I could ever live with myself if I saw her found out:

Maybe hurt at the fact that I've constantly lied to her.

Maybe betrayed that I felt I couldn't tell her.

Maybe anger towards me and Azea.

A whole list of possibilities and I don't want to find out either of them.

But the bottom line is that she'd be hurt and I'd hate myself because I know that I would've caused it. Then she shouldn't find out, at least not until I tell her. I can't keep up this lie because it's been on my conscious ever since I began. I still think that what I have with Azea is great, I never want it to stop but ever since it began I've been constantly spinning webs of constant lies towards the one of the people that care about me the most, my own kin.

I manage to get out of the cabin leave in the warmest 'clothes' I have. Honestly, they're horrible compared to what Azea has, makes me look like a rat living under a rock. When I step out I instantly feel a tough chill that practically screams of the fast approaching winter. Winter, fire collecting season, the cold. We don't have the warmest house so we have to rely on warm clothes and each other for heat usually. And when it's winter I'll have less and less excuses to leaving the cabin so often because there'll be snow and ice everywhere.

My legs are my guide, they carry me forwards, weaving me in and out of trees and towards the place that's imprinted in my mind, like a map on the back of my brain. I know where it is from weeks and weeks of leaving Otis and sneaking off there to meet Azea. It's quite a while away but I still remember where to turn, where to go straight, where to stop, where to curve. I remember exactly how to get there. I even manage a smile because the shroud of guilt that previously covered my heart has now melted off and is replaced with my heart racing, slamming on my ribcage with anticipation. I manage to get Otis out of my mind, all the what-ifs and guilt manages to melt away and is pushed to the back of my mind. The future doesn't matter, only the fact that I'm going to see her again...

I'm actually going to see her again!

I'll get to see her long, shiny, dark curls in the light. I'll get to stare into her green, celestial orbs once again and get lost in them for ages and ages. That prospect is why I forget the guilt, why I forget I should feel horrible for lying and abandoning my sister because I get to see her again.

I finally find the cabin with ease and grin, the coldness, the guilt, it all just stops as I push open the door and see her waiting for me by the glowing fireplace. "Hey Cy," she says and I smile back at her, allowing my heart to race at hundreds of miles an hour and observing what I see. Of course her clothes are so much better than what I can muster, I always try my best to at least look and she just makes anything work with ease, maybe that just comes with age I dunno. She called me Cy, never thought I'd grow to love that name. I used to hate it. Smiling confidently, I take a few steps towards her. "Hey," I reply as I allow the door to shut behind me and I begin walking towards the fireplace and sit next to her and allow the warmness to wash over me. "You look beautiful," I whisper, taking her hand into mine.

There was something he wasn't telling me.

You didn't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out.

My eyes folio him suspiciously as he exists the house, his clothing neat and his eyes bright. A frown slips onto my forehead and I wander over to one of the few windows in our shack and I watch him as he disappears into the forrest. Then I am quickly throwing some old does on and coat- well what you would call a coat and what I would call a coat are two different things. This was just a worn jumper, one to fight of a cold breeze- and I follow him out the door. I am careful to keep my distance, my eyes watching his every move as he walks through district seven. It was not long ago when he told me that we didn't keep secrets, he said that we didn't lie to each other so wandered why he was keeping something from me. Did he feel like he couldn't tell me about it because I wasn't trust worthy? Did it make him uncomfortable?

The thought stings because everything I have dome in my lifetime I have done to protect him and it hurts to think there is something that he can't tell me, something that he has to sneak around with lies and misleading words. Today I would find out though, today I would unmask the truth, I would be able to shred light on the lies which were becoming more than just a small pile, but a hill.

I watch as a small shed comes into view, making my eyebrows raise high. What the hell as going on here? He knocks on the door before letting himself in, the door closing quickly behind him, swallowing him from view. I wait only a moment before I am running over to the hut. I sneak around the back and I hear the lice of a girl, mingled with his own causing a frown to replaced my surprised face. finally I find a window. I peek inside and to confirm my early thoughts there is a girl, she sits beside a fire place and Cyrus, with a bog warm smiles, wanders over to sit beside her, taking her hand in his own.

A started nose escapes my lips and I step back from the window. The hell was going on in there? Had this girl seduced my brother? What the fuck did she want from him? I had had enough. It was time I crashed, what seemed to be, this little reunion.

I run around to the front of the shed and pull the door open fast. I don't even pause before I step in and place my hands onto my boney hips, my eyes instantly landing o the to f them, my lips pull back in a scowl. “What the hell his going on?!” I say, my eyes landing on Cyrus first, landing on the mysterious girl before glueing themselves back onto my brother. “Would you care to enlighten me on the situation, Cyrus?”

I gazed at Cyrus, a soft smile on my lips as I leaned in to him. I felt safe with Cyrus, I don't know why of all people it's with him but I do. My cheeks flame before a noise outside alerts me to the fact that we may not actually be alone. Shiva paces around the two of us, nervous for some reason and I look out the window to find no one there. That is strange. I think before turning my attention back to Cyrus. I smile before someone bursts through the door and I look up to see a woman standing there looking furious.

I stand, my eyes flashing as I look at her before she speaks to Cyrus and I don't have to be told who this is. This is his older sister, the one that doesn't know about us. So we have been found out. Well shit. Shiva hisses softly as I take in the other girl before looking to Cyrus. Embarrassment colors my cheeks before I look down at my feet.

"I'll go now." I say before looking around for a way to not have to confront this furious woman.

Ooc: I am so sorry this took so long and that it is a crap post. I just cannot Azea right now. There honestly is no good excuse for this, don't shoot me

{Oh where to we begin?}

It's strange how strangely warming I'm feeling right now, it happens as soon as our hands make contact. I don't think I've ever felt something like this before, not even when it's just me and Otis living alone, no one to fight us but the world. It's warmer than being next to a fireplace on a cold night, it's warmer than being outside in the hot sun with a jacket on. It's a different kind of warm, it makes my blood hot and my brain feel even hotter, as if I won't ever be able to string a set of coherent sentences together ever again.

It's indescribable, uncontrollable, it's...

The door suddenly swings open and my head automatically snaps back to meet the intruder.

It's... unforgivable.

"Otis? I manage to ask, clearly confused by the dozens of questions circling around my brain right now. Otis is here, Otis is here, Otis is here!!! But how is she here? Did she stumble upon us by accident? No, she followed me, she must have. The storm I've wanted to avoid for a long time is actually here and I'm unprepared. "Would you care to enlighten me on the situation, Cyrus?" She asks, and I can tell from her voice that she's not happy. I... I lied to her. Something I said we'd never do to each other.

And yet I don't feel the wave of shame I anticipated.

Despite that I feel like everything I ever wanted will come crumbling down, months and months of trying to get what I ever wanted about to just vanish, like walls tumbling down around a city. I don't even get to open my mouth to say anything before Azea (I almost forgot she was here) stands up, looking completely embarrassed. I shouldn't really be surprised. "I'll go now." She says.

She won't let you go. I want to say that but my words seem to be stuck in my throat.

What's... what's wrong with me?

Has this all I've been reduced to? Someone so petrified of his own sister he can't string a sentence together? Pathetic, coward, stupid. Just because things aren't going my way I'm beginning to... to... shut down. I wish I could sink into the ground and just disappear, wake up and none of this happened. I bet Azea wishes she wasn't here either. But I can't think like that anymore. I have to fix this.

I bite my lip and slowly stand up.

I must fucking grow my backbone.

Or else...

What would Azea think?

"Azea, you don't have to go," I say as I grab her hand to stop her from trying to stride through Otis or something. "Otis, I was going to tell you eventually but... it just weren't the right time, y'know what I mean?" I explain. I'm a fool for thinking that will justify this. "We met a few months ago," I explain.

I have to fight my gaze to keep it in Otis' eyes and not her feet. Backbone keeps my head straight, not looking down. I don't care if she punches me or shouts at me. I deserve whatever this next storm brings.
