Thunder Hawk
'cause now again I've found myself so far down away from the sun;He sat on the ground with his knees drawn towards his chest listening as the wind flew through the air knocking the scattered leaves across the ground. His eyes focused on the stone in front of him. Tiny fingers ran through the words etched deep within the stone. Three years. It has been three long years since Storm was taken away, thrown into the games, and returned home dead in a coffin ready for burial. Three years to the day, and Thunder can't bring himself to return home. Not when the games are blasting through the house because the Capitol mandates it. Not when all he can see is Storm falling towards the ground over and over as the girl sliced into his skin not caring that people were here waiting for his return. He returned home, but it wasn't the way anyone wanted. Storm wasn't supposed to die, nobody should go through the horrible death of being torn apart for the pure excitement of the Capitol, but Thunder witnessed it. He watched Storm's arm fall from his body, he watched as the girl bit the blade of the sword into his skin, and he watched as the cannon sounded.
It had been three years since tears fell from his face. Thunder doesn't cry, he can't cry because of the amount of tears he shed through the first year after Storm's death, and for the first time since he last cried, a single tear slid down his face. A lot in his life changed. His bones grew fragile, his stomach grew emptier. His mother constantly yells at him telling him he'll starve to death if the food she's prepared doesn't make it's way into his stomach, but Thunder doesn't care. He can't care anymore because the last time he cared about something it was taken away from him in the blink of an eye. Every ounce of respect he had for himself washed out the window in a torrential downpour. A permanent scowl spread across his face. His heart shattered like a mirror into millions of tiny shards, yet somehow it still manages to keep the same simple rhythm. A scar runs along his arm where he tried removing it from his body because he longed for acceptance, and he wanted to be exactly like Storm. The scar served as a reminder of what the games did when the innocent children were placed inside.
Tiny fingers drew the thin jacket tighter around his body. His head fell onto his knees in a quick motion. "Why did you have to die? Why? Why couldn't you fight harder? You had family waiting for you back home. I was waiting for you! Why did you have to die? Why did you let her kill you? Give me a sign, Storm! I need you! I need you." Loud violent sobs escaped from his lips blocking out the wind as it whistled through the air. Tears fell freely from his eyes, and he couldn't stop them. His heart dropped into his stomach before leaping into his throat. Fists pound the ground beside him like a child throwing a tantrum, but he doesn't stop. The wind blew his jacket back making it look like he grew wings. Thunder was a Hawk, and hawks were birds. Maybe for the first time he could fly through the air with his wings spread wide. Storm thought he could fly, but he was wrong. He died, but he didn't die by himself. When Storm died, a part of Thunder died with him. "I need you, Storm. I need you."
