The Anthem - Day 5

With no sky and no sun to speak of, day and night meld together into an indistinguishable sum of darkness. For a few brief minutes, the Anthem echos throughout the labyrinth you have been confined to, haughty and haunting as ever. An eerie green dawn — the projections of the dead — lights up every square inch of ceiling.

It is not difficult to count four deaths. With only nine tributes still left in the small arena, what the next day holds is a mystery. That may be in your favor, so long as you are not among the dead; after all, there are still eight others vying for your crown.

As the anthem ends, you expect the final image to fade, but it does not. The booming voice of Claudius Templesmith echoes throughout the tunnels of the arena. "Tributes! Congratulations on making it to the Top Ten! All of that fighting can really wear on the body, so we'd like to invite you to a feast! In fact, we're requiring it — attendance is absolutely mandatory, so don't even think about missing it!"

You expect to hear more, but there is only silence. However, as the Capitol's seal recedes from the tunnels, a strip of faint green lights illuminates on the cavern ceiling above you. While you debate following, a great rumbling shakes the whole labyrinth and the floor beneath you fills with a few feet of water. If you can't walk, you may as well swim...
