Autumn gazed down at the clock 2:30pm. She had like three hours until she met Andrei for their, she didn't know whether or not to call it a date but it sure felt like one. She felt butterflies flutter in her stomach. It had been about six months since Andrei had entered her life and she'd noticed that he was on her mind a lot so when he'd suggested they go for dinner, she'd nervously accepted, feeling her heart race in her chest. Cedar had sent her home early from the shop saying she could deal with it for the night and to enjoy herself. Autumn had to wonder if she was secretly conspiring with Andreis twin sisters. Playing matchmaker.
She felt a blush rise in her cheeks as she looked through her closet, trying to find something appropriate to wear for their date. It wasn't nice enough out for a dress so perhaps her jeans and a nice blouse. What she wouldn't give for her moms imput on something like this. She gazed down at the old photograph of her and smiled. She missed her mother, missed her smile, her scent of herbs, her laugh, her gentle hands as she taught her daughter the different herbs. Miss you Mom she thought as she slipped the shirt over her head, gazing in the mirror as she brushed through her dark curls, trying to make sure everything was perfect.
Normally, Autumn wasn't the nervous type but when it came to Andrei, things were entirely different. She sighed, what was she even doing? She put a smile on her face, realizing that she still had a few hours to kill. What was she supposed to do? She turned to the book on her desk, the one she had recently saved up for to buy as it was a rare book that was harder to find than a needle in a haystack.
Sitting on her bed, she cracked open the book and began reading, trying to memorize what it was she was reading but her trains of thought kept getting interrupted by a certain person she would be meeting in about an hour and a bit. She gazed at the clock, wishing it would go faster so she could get her shoes on and go meet him. Why was he on her mind? Since when did she like him? At what point did he go from being just another patient to a friend and maybe something more? She blushed, her cheeks flaming red as she tried to get back to her book.
About an hour later, she was almost dancing about her house, her voice ringing through the small space of her small cabin in the woods. She put the finishing touches on her hair, the soft curls falling over her shoulders before she put her coat on and headed out into the cool evening air.
The place they were meeting was his place and she had to honestly wonder what they were doing this evening. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she approached his place, her heart rate picking up more with every step she took, each pace bringing her closer to the man who made her feel special.
She smiled as she came to the door and she tentatively knocked, unsure of what to expect.
