tweed
Duncan was undoubtedly taller and larger than Tweed was. He towered over her and, though she never liked to admit it, could pull far more weight than she ever could. That somewhat irritated her since she liked to pride herself on being able to provide for herself without depending on anyone else, though that barrier was steadily coming down. She recognized that she needed Duncan and that he was so very trustworthy, but still she enjoyed proving herself, even with the small things.
Strength was no exception to that; however, what was strength without the element of surprise?
She was small, agile, and knew her way around him like a road map. Sneaking up on him wouldn’t be the problem—no, issue would come later when he realized what was happening and quickly went in for a counter attack. That would be where his advantages seized the situation. With his back facing her, Tweed carefully went step by step, certain to avoid any squeaking floorboards as she approached. He looked to be writing or reading and she did have a bit of reserve for pouncing while he poured his soul onto those blank pages, but he was a perfect target. Every part of her body tensed and twitched to keep her balanced and steady. No one else was in the house, so any noise from the approach would be a dead giveaway and ruin the opportunity.
A foot carefully came down toe-first on the floor. He hadn’t yet made any indication that he was aware of her presence, so she lowered down, knees bent, and sprung forward.
Arms wrapped around his torso tightly and the force of the jump knocked them both sideways, rolling over and over. Tweed struggled to force herself on top in order to gain the upper hand but the behemoth boy was already too much for her to handle. After only two flips she was stuck underneath, arms pinned and his legs on either side of her torso. Squirming and trying to wrench her arms free was to no avail whatsoever, and she was forced to reluctantly accept defeat.
A low and frustrated groan sounded from her. ”Okay, you win.”
