S U L F E R I slipped my black bag over my shoulder. It was sort of hard to do with one arm, almost like limbo. No one offers to help me, because everyone knows I’ll just say no then insult them. I don’t want anybody’s help or pity. I highly doubt anyone has any pity left for me anyway. Sul Fer, the girl with one arm. People whisper behind my back as I pass down the hallway. Stares are always included with them. I guess after almost half my life they would have worn off, but no I always seem to get their attention. If not the attention from the people my age, the attention from the kids that just started school. They will ask people around them what happened. More importantly who am I. When you are a freak or an outcast, the spotlight will always be yours. Today in chemistry, we got assigned our partner for an experiment we have to do, the only time people actually hope to work with me. Everyone has their thing, and chemistry just turned out to be mine. We never get to choose who we work with, so when the teacher called out the names of the people we were working with, I didn’t even know the name Kalypso Heart. I don’t know the most people, I never was good with names. That’s one reason I don’t want friends. I have to remember their names. Though the main reason is that I just seem to hate people in general. I can’t stand people’s sweet faces, when I know that there is not an innocent person on this planet. There is no Ms. or Mr. perfect. We are all somehow screwed up. After class, I quickly talked with the brown eyed girl. I quickly told her to come over to my place after school. I left before she could even answer me. No I am on my home wondering if she would even show up. I don’t really expect her too. I didn’t give her my address or anything, but she can always figure it out for herself. It isn’t as if my family wasn’t known to have the worst luck there is. Most people know where we live and carefully walk past. No one wants to catch a bad case of the Fer’s bad luck. People talk about my family all the time. What will happen next, as if we were some kind of TV show. I don’t live far from the school, a 5 to0 10 minuet walk. I live right outside the city, away from the really tall buildings and stuff. I live in a nice two story house, with my mom, dad, and sister. The Fer’s are a family spread all over the place in smaller families. I live in a rather okay house. We aren’t poor, but not the richest either. The only disturbing thing is the whole in the wall. It’s been there for years now, ever since I blasted my arm off. I guess my parents figured I would blast something else up and the wall will just get another hole, so they left it. It’s pretty cold in the winter, so I hang some old sheets over it. I enter the house and call out to the let everyone know I’m home. I march straight after that up the wooden stairs. With every step it makes a creaking noise. I dump my bag into the corner of the room. I guess there isn’t much to do, but wait and see if that Kalypso girl shows up. template by chelsey |
