(I still reek of Kellan Fray.)

It's been two weeks and she washed every trace of him away from her hair and her skin and her clothes. She tried to bleach out his memory and burn away the fact that she might have enjoyed it - enjoyed his company and his laugh and his touch. There's been plenty enough boys in her life in which she kissed & them made them cry but they didn't scare her. She's not afraid of him but what he'll say, what he'll scream in the street and whisper to his friends and stain her soul with rumours. Of course she'll deny them. Spit back sentences like Bullshit and As If and You Wish and In Your Dreams. It felt like a dream - impossible, blurry, other worldly. But it wasn't. She's frightened, for once in her life. And she's waiting to wake up to a nightmare she knows she cannot escape.

It's not a nightmare that she faces, exactly, when the night finally catches up to her. It's something far worse.

His brother.

Well well well. Look what Kellan Fray dragged in! Just kidding, Kaiser thought. Pyrite Shore was not someone to be dragged, yet his brother had somehow managed to sleep with her anyway. Granted, he had to poison her first. A weak tactic. Alcohol to get a woman? Who needed that? Intoxication dulled the senses, it numbed the body and ruined the experience. Could she even remember what his brother's junk looked like? Probably not. Alcohol will do that shit.

"Pyrite Shore!" he exclaimed with glee. It wasn't fake, either. Who wouldn't be happy meeting a face like that? "Nice to see you, nice to see you!" He winked at her for dramatic effect. She was known for being the Shore's hard ass, so any reaction he could provoke would be a delicious one.

"I've heard some rumors about you and my bro," he said, smug as always. "But have you heard the rumors about me? I'm ten times better."

There was a bar just around the corner too. But wait! Alcohol was out of the question. He needed a back-up plan in case she said yes.

Wait, what parallel universe did he think he was in? Pyrite saying yes?

He laughed.

She's not afraid. She's not afraid.

It still frightens her regardless. She's a goddamn nightmare, someone to be feared. Not the other way around, it doesn't work like that. If you only crave someone for one night it doesn't mean anything. That's nothing but drunken lust. Two people so starved of attention that they turn to the people who need it as bad as them. But right now she'd give anything, anything at all, to be rid of this type of attention.

She's not afraid.

Kaiser swaggers into her view and she holds her head high. Recounting every single excuse she's thought of, practicing her lies, building her bank of denial so large she'll drown in her own stories until she believes them herself. She's heard rumours that he mentions, but not the type he's referring to. Dead kids in dustbins and blood trails through alleyways and whispers of the strange, lethal Fray twins. ('If I could bet my money on anyone in this training centre....')

She's no fool and she won't be taken for one. She'll go to her grave pretending to be gold - silver does not cut it and never will.

"So you're telling me you're a better liar than Fray?" she asks, eyebrows raised and a scoff between her teeth.

"So tell me a lie, Kaiser. See if I believe you."

Pyrite was a scoffer, no surprise there. She had that air of arrogance that warranted scoffs and arched eyebrows. He wondered if her self-confidence matched his own. Was she a worthy opponent, a notable challenger? Was she any stronger than Kellan? Because Kellan's sense of pride could be absolutely insufferable to the entire Fray family. Kaiser thought it was hilarious how much one golden-haired boy could suck his own dick, but maybe that was just him. He was known for being very tolerable, after all.

His smirk never faltered. A better liar than Kellan Fray? Duh. His evening antics involving the blood of innocents and mysteriously-dumped corpses had to be shrouded by lies, else he and his twin would end up in Peacekeeper hands. Not that they really cared. Their search parties were weak, practically lazy. He could get careless and they probably wouldn't notice.

Lies, lies, lies. What was a lie that he could tweet to this bird?

"There's this rumor going around that I can down two bottles of wine in an hour," he said, smirk growing crooked. "I can confirm that it is indeed the truth."

"Only two?" she replies, because like everything in her life it has to be a goddamn competition. Not that she minds the challenge, it's what she was born to feed on. The hard part is winning, over and over again. She bleeds egotism and superiority and spits out fire but when it comes to really burning and bleeding, she falls short. Pain is only relevant if she can feel it and she's not hurting yet.

"Not bad. But of course, you'll need to prove it."

The last time she dared a Fray kid to convince her with alcohol it turned sour, but she'd rather be seen in broad daylight with a bottle in her hand and an arm around Kaiser than in the shadows with Kellan. He could just be the perfect cover up and a big fuck you to the Fray she's trying to punish for making her give a damn. Kaiser seems to feed off fear and Pyrite feels as though he can smell it on her, the hunt already on. She's not prey, though. She's a hunter herself.

The competitive edge was riveting. It wasn't obnoxious like his brother's, so that was endearing. "Prove it" was one of his favorite phrases. Even if he couldn't prove somebody wrong the challenge got his adrenaline surging, and that was all he needed to keep himself feeling alive and well. Fuck it if he lost. He didn't win a medal in the Olympics, and who scolded him? Everyone.

Who gave a shit? Not him.

Evidently, he would need alcohol to seduce her after all. Disappointing, but not at all a turn off. "Liquor store is around the corner," he said, permanent smirk still plastered across his jaw. He hadn't planned on drinking today at all. The original goal was to simply walk to the training center and channel out some of his stored energy, but running into Pyrite Shore was much more rewarding. Challenging her was even better.

"How about we buy more wine bottles than we can carry?"
