I wish winter would just crawl into a hole and die.
The idea of winter seems nice, at first. The days get shorter, the nights get cooler. All the kids love a good bit of snow to make snowmen and snow angels. But then it really snows. And I have to wade through feet of icy white death for half an hour to get home.
Today happens to be particularly bitter. I'm bitter. I had to get chastised at training because of some stupid shit my brother pulled. Again. If he keeps this shit up, we may as well both get kicked out. I don't want my stupid brother to ruin my life. As soon as training was over, I stormed away from him and took a different path home. I did not, however, expect to get lost.
The chill bites at my face. I tug my thick scarf closer. It helps with the cold, but I wish it could help me find my way home. The storefronts are getting harder to differentiate and I feel as if I've been going in circles. I've tried stopping people for directions, but they all hurry off. Probably to get out of the cold as well.
Something hits my forehead. Water? I'm not standing under any sort of roofing that water could drip from. I look up into the sky, and there it is. Rain. Rain! Of course it's gonna start raining, while I'm out lost in two feet of snow. Man, today just couldn't get any better.
I start to run, but the rain is coming down hard. The snow at my feet is turning to slush. I drag my drenched boots through the disgusting slush for minutes before I can't take it any longer. I grab the door of the nearest shop and stumble inside.
It's very dark in here. There definitely was an open sign in the window, though. I debate calling out a hello, but choose not to. Maybe it'd be better if I just rested up alone. I seat myself on the floor right next to the entrance and begin to tug my boots off.
